DukeN: I know you. You've been posting in the Lakers newsgroup, and if I'm not mistaken I seem to remember you stopping by chat for a quick bit last night with something very unflattering to say.

Haha yep thats me man. Don't take this the wrong way but I can't stand the Lakers. I used to respect Shaq before but I've lost any respect for the man since his whining and crying, just like Cryverson.
I'm a Raps fan, always have been and always will be.

Cheers
P

You can be sure it will be 100% finished, and an awesome game too when it's released though. If blizzard have to wait another year to piolish it they will, they dont have an angry publisher forcing them to rush their product.

<< They keep pushing the @!$!@@#%!@#% date back. >>

What are you talking about?! The release has been set for the first half of 2001 since it was first announced, and it is still on schedule to hit that. It will be out at the end of this month.

Seems unlikely its going to come out at the end of the month since it hasn't even gone gold yet. Would have to go gold within the next few days at the latest to make it by the end of the month.

Saw this on the Gone Gold forums: "The latest PC Gamer has Rich's prediction that it will slip to July/August.."

Good detective work.

EBWorld says 6/28 for DII Expansion, but I highly doubt that is the date. Oh well, Baldur's Gate II expansion just went gold, I guess that will be my next game.

They !@#$!@$ keep pushing it !@$!@$ back.

It was originally 15th of June, and I almost preordered it late April. They moved it to the 22nd, and now amazon.com says its onto the 29th.

I really like blizzard's work but I wish they would give out realistical release dates so we would'nt have to be tortured so much seeing delays so much.

As I said, they haven't delayed it. Blizzard has never set a date for it to be released upon. They have said since they first announced it that it will come out in the first half of 2001. Blizzard hasn't delayed it, Amazon has given you their guesses and then pushed it back when they were wrong.

Starcraft: Brood War was in stores about a week after it went gold. There hasn't been any tiny hint of it being delayed from Blizz (every interview they've done they've reaffirmed that it is on schedule), and unlike their full games the expansions actually do come out on schedule as far as I've followed them. I don't think it will be delayed, I just think they are going to cut it very close.

Blizzard decided to give me a little more time to play with my (unneffed) characters before releasing the expansion-which I predict (based on current USEast situation) will completely overwhelm bnet and make them unplayable.

Haha unneffed. I think the xpac is screwing over a lot of character but I probably won't convert any of mine except for my sets mules and uniques since sets might be good in the xpac and you can't gamble uniques in the xpac though I wouldn't doubt if bliz releases a patch for regular D2 with that in.

I like how they supposedly doubled the capacity and bandwidth for USEast. Yeah right it still is laggy and crashes at least once every couple hours. I see about the same amount of people on every day yet it's just as laggy as it was before the upgrade. With the xpac coming out I also expect the realms to be very unstale and laggy for a while. I realize its just an xpac (although the changes make it a new game) but people who are bored with D2 will play it again cause of the xpac, people will go and buy xpac and D2 maybe if it's in a bundle.

From what I've read Blizz is going to patch regular D2, which patch will contain most if not all the neffs.

Bah... poo on D2 and its expansion anymore. They made their biggest mistake leaving that game in 2D... then another mistake with the miserable storyline.

Long live Dungeon Siege! Beta starting Monday! Ahhh... I can feel my life slipping away....

351Cleveland, little you know 'smart' or 'experienced' diablo2 players dont play for storyline. as for 2d graphics, counter strike looks like crap or looks barely ok at best but many still play it. your point?

BrotherMan-

I dunno why you think CS looks BAD... For a game based on an "OLD" engine, it looks pretty darn good IMO.

I am an experienced D2 player, and I didn't play for storyline... at least not after the 3rd or 4th run at the game. DS isn't going to have a novel quality story either, but it can be CHANGED... people can write their own stories (given enuf time) and make their own mods. Aren't RPG's supposed to be about the story, at least somewhat? I fail to see how D2 can qualify as a RPG anymore if the story is insignificant, but that is anotehr discussion...

D2 got boring... if you weren't a WW barb, you were a MS Zon, Tweaker Sorc, or a BG/IM Necro. Note that I have a WW barb and a BG/IM golen too, they jsut got boring. I know some played other variants, but the game began loosing its flavor... kinda like old gum. My whole "clan" (used loosely, we werent an actual clan, just a group that always met and played together) simply found that the game had lost anything resembling a challenge. D2X will add some flavor and challenge back to the game, but how long will it take for that to dissapate? About the only reason I think I would buy it is to play the Assassin... she looks interesting.

Then again, I may be too wrapped up playing DS when D2X comes out that I wont care to mess with D2X

I have agree DS looks very good. At least more fun to play. I like the idea of having actual mules that follow and loot for me. ;)

The game was in development for nearly 4 years before it came out. Therefore 3d wasn't all that popular when it started development and I can see why they wouldn't spend yet more time changing over to 3d.

Who the cares about a storyline?? I don't think I've even watched all the cinematics...

Yes it can get repititive. I did for me after playing it a lot for a few months then I had a 7-8 month break and am at it again. Dueling always keeps it a live though so when you get bored with monsters then play PvP.

eagle-

I agree.... storyline has nothing to do with the Diablo series.. which is why I would not consider it a true RPG. Baulder's Gate has a story, a core element to a RPG (not the most important element, but simply walking around until you find the big baddie and killing him is not a story).

Hack 'n' Slash alone gets boring, as you said. I guess it is all based on what you want out of the game :) I prefer a more substantial storyline and smoother character development, which I think DS will offer.

looks like you havnt played the game for real. go to diabloii pvp forums and ask them how much the scene has changed every time a major patch came out. there are so many extereme builds for palys alone, all having pros and cons. a serious barb not using use ww as primary attack i am yet to hear of, but there are so many differnt variations you could give to a barb, i have 1 mf barb, 1 all vit s/s tweaker, 1 itd tank, 1 s/s tank. my suggestion is you do more homework before you write off a game thats been quite prosperous. you might be a 'experienced' pvm player, but if you say most necros use BG/IM you would be laughed by everyone 'in da know'.

just to give you an idea, here is a typical well-balanced all purpose necro

1 in clay golem, 1 in blood golem, about 10 in IM, max decrep, max bonewall, max bs, 1 bone wall, 1 bone prison and remaining points in LR. wears twitch/Wot/dually sojs or fast cast rings with good mods/magefist and other rares

I dont PvP. I think it is pointless.

No, not all Necros are BG/IM, sorry to imply that.

I have several variations of Barbs thank you.

I never said you should not have played it. You play it for its PvP value. That is great for you. I played it for its RPG value (what little it had). After that value was spent, I shelved it. Sorry if that upsets you. Come this Tuesday, I will be playing DS, and shall no longer offend you.
