When is a good time to start looking for a new Laser Printer?

I have an HP Laserjet IIIP and I was wondering when is the page count too high to start looking for a new one?

When you can't get the drivers for the printer to work on your new XP computer, or;

You're looking at the cost of a new drum. Then you may want to check out if replacement printer would be in the same ballpark $$wise as the new drum.

There is one more.....
When you are sick and tired of looking at that old HP and want a new one.....

Doesn't everything get replaced that wears out with toner replacements on that model?
