When installing a pre-SP1 version of Vista, wouldn't it be better...

I have to reinstall Vista SP1 on one of my computers. It's a pre-SP1 Vista Home Premium 64 DVD. When I install it, and run windows update, it wants to install like 60 updates first, then install SP1, then finish installing the updates.

I thought SP1 was supposed to include all the updates before it? Soooo...wouldn't it be better to just skip to installing SP1, then finish the updates? I feel like I'm creating junk in my OS somehow by going through the regular Windows Update install path.

Advice...? Thoughts...?

IIRC, there are a handful of updates that need to be installed prior to SP1.
Yeah, thats correct.

Never used WU to get SP1, but if you use the standalone installer of SP1 then it installs a few patches first before going onto the main service pack.

Hmm...I guess I'll just go ahead and install it as it recommends. Thanks for the clarification, guys.
