They didn't. It's a fairy tale.

It is not quite incest. And though it will increase your chances of birthing a healthy baby, it is a bit unorthodox, to say the least. Still, scientists at Icelandic biotechnology company deCODE genetics say that when third and fourth cousins procreate, they generally have scads of kids and grandkids (relative to everyone else).

So because rednecks have more kids, that means kissing cousins have a better chance of successful reproduction?? Come on...

very interesting.... not so good when it's a first or second cousin but at the third cousin tier they became baby machines likely due to the fact the genes were varied enough so that there weren't defects, and yet still close enough that there was immunological compatibility.

So does this explain Utah?

Go walk through a mall in almost any Utah city...you'll see the results of close in-breeding.

That's why the state motto is "Hire the Handicapped. They're FUN to watch."

I've always thought it was strange that Mormons tend to all look very similar to one another. Even a former boss who was raised Mormon but non practicing, said that Mormons all look like her. Are they all descended from a small population?

Explains why I had the hots for a gal who apparently may have been my third cousin. My father's great grandfather and her dad's great grandfather were brothers. And no, we didn't.

Sort of...You get that whole Polygamy thing going on...one husband, numerous wifes with numerous kids...sooner or later, the kids between the wifes have kids...and it keeps magnifying...
