Hi I have Gainward Ti4200 128MB i think that 4.0ns Ram and i have overclocked it to core 311mhz, and memory now is running fine on 600, I wasnt trying any higher, could I burn my memory chips in one time, or I should try to overclock it to over 600 mhz until I will freeze up my system or I will see artifacts?? What do you advice me, core on 315 caused freeze, but memory on 600 running excelent, on internet preview of this card was that they reached 570 at best, but higher core they get also then mine, is this possible that I can run more then 600mhz?? when shall I stop in overclocking??

The best way to overclock is to keep pushing up a few MHz at a time (5 is usually a good amount) and then backing off to the last used setting when you start to see artifacts or system freezing. And yes, if you push your memory too hard you can blow it so don't jump straight to a high value that you've seen someone else attain.

Ok now I have seen after awhile of testing some artifacts on 600 mhz memory setting, so now I am running now at 590mhz,, it is still too high for 4.0ns memories,, it is dangerous?? when I saw no artifacts or probably one small in 5 minutes, but I am not sure, it can be also texture something issue ,, I know from previous games. I have now no freeze and artifacts, and going from 570 to 590 mhz memory had do even faster my system mainly in 1280x1024 in GTA3 I can saw differences. So should I keep this card on 590 mhz or I lower it to at least 580 ??? I am a bit worry about my new card.

heheh can someone explain an 'artifact' please....

and how about the core? how do you know when you hit the limit?
Where would my general maxed out zones be for a Leadtek 4200 128MB?

heh thanks

Artifacts from overclocking the video card memory too much will usually take the form of little white specks on the screen, kinda like snow or TV static. From personal experience, overclocking video card memory too much will lead to artifacts. Overclocking the video card core too much usually leads to system freezes or crashes. When you start experiencing either, start clocking it back down.

I used to wonder what artifacts were too. But once you try overclocking your memory a little too high, you'll start seeing a bunch of weird glitches on the screen. You'll be more than conviced that those are artifacts at that point.
