When I get a network card for DSL (router), will it slow down my boot much? :/

i'm getting DSL in some weeks, and I guess I'm just gonna pick up an old network card (Tbase10 or something) for $10 and use instead of buying a whole new 100 Mbit card that isn't gonna be used to its full anyway.

this will give me a static IP (I think....), will it slow down my boot time much?

thanks

Not really. Since mine is a dynamic IP, I have my NIC set up to obtain an IP and the boot time is not really that much slower. Oh and as you can see, you are not necessarily going to get a statis IP. Broadband ISPs usually give you a dynamic IP to deter you from hosting things like web sites. But I've seen alot of people posting with broadband connection say they have static IPs though. Go figure.
