What, do you think they're "above" it? It gets them a lot of exposure from college students, who often have spare time/money and get the word out better than anyone. And it makes it look more authentic to have adults doing it.

I think most actors are happy to get any type of work.

It is an insanely hard field to make a living in. When I worked at Disney I knew tons of people with drama and theater degrees who dressed up as Mickey Mouse to pay the bills. Was the only 'acting' job they could land.
