It was fun watching boss clean up mess.

You put up with that? If that happened to me the only funny thing about it would have been how much trouble he'd have picking up the mug with my foot broke off in his ass.

You were assaulted... don't just sit there. Have a nice day

who says I sat there?

In all honesty, I found it hilarious.

Sorry, I assumed if you found it funny then you didn't do anything about it, i.e. "sat there". Either way, I hope you didn't put up with it.

What would you have thought had it hit you square on the jaw?

I agree. I've done it in the past.

Ari Gold: Where the ****** is Peter Cole's office? Right here?
[Ari storms into the room]
Ari Gold: James Cameron is directing "Aquaman"?
Surprised Kid: That's great, that's awesome!
Ari Gold: That's "awesome", huh? You didn't think to bring it up in the ****** staff meeting? An e-mail? A yellow ****** sticky-something?
Surprised Kid: I... I didn't know I was supposed to know that kind of stuff.
Ari Gold: Well, what is it you're supposed to know, do you think? What the ****** do we pay you for? To get your agency card laminated so you can go to Shelter and try to ****** Mischa Barton?
Surprised Kid: I... I didn't think...
Ari Gold: Let me tell you something. You don't have to say anything, know why? Cause you can pick up all your stuff, cause you're mother-****** fired!
[Ari storms out]
CAA Assistant: What happened?
Surprised Kid: I don't know. I came in to drop off Peter's mail and Mr. Gold fired me. My life is over!

However, if you can't handle some words, you shouldn't be in my line of work.

what's that Bill?

He's in the Army.

It depends. If it's common, then no, it's not over the line. If you let your boss or HR know, and it happens, then it's a hostile work enviornment. It's amazing that Harrasment takes a LOT of crap to make a lawsuit. Part of that, though, is letting your boss/company know what YOU consider to be over the line.

I once worked at a place run by an insane man who had no problem with the foulest language being used by his managers. I saw them call people words that I had never even heard before. Think of the most disgusting curse words imaginable - those were in everyday use there. He thought that was "running a tight ship".

Over time all the people with ambition and skill left, while the people on work-release, those without GEDs and people without, um, legal ID stayed. The managers stayed to the bitter end and the place went bankrupt. When I and some others left we told people to find other jobs before they shut down, but some didn't listen.

When they were booming and bringing in more people, we tried to tell them you can't treat people like animals, but they only knew one way to run things and that was screaming at people while making sure you had at least one word of profanity in every sentence.

Where I work now, an f-bomb would definitely raise eyebrows. It's just not done, and they wouldn't tolerate it from any manager.

Depends on how professional the setting is. However, it really isn't a good idea for managers and supervisors to EVER cuss at lower-level employees. I've seen managers cuss each other out, but you aren't supposed to really chew out the lower-level employees. They will sue.

A "boss" or "manager" should NEVER be using profanity to relate correctional action or express his/her feelings. Ever. Whether it is directed at somebody or just a general expletive, they just shouldn't do it.

I would have called HR immediately and filed a complaint. Physical assault warrants suspension. Violence is almost never the means to absolve a sticky situation.
