Oh, and state whether fake or real.

When my parents had a fake one, they put it up the day after Thanksgiving. My boyfriend's parents put theirs up yesterday, in order to have the house decorated (Christmas decorations) for Thanksgiving.

Just curious :)

Its traditional here to light up our tree on Thanksgiving, when the city lights up the bulevard of lights. Artificial is the only way to keep it up that long, just to risky to keep a dried up real tree over 2 weeks.

i had neighbors (they weren't right in the head, really) who would start putting up their christmas decorations before haloween (sp?) so when it did come, trickortreaters walked up to their house amist candy canes and the jesus manger set, of course they don't take it down till around march or so... but i know you all want to know did they turn them on, oh ya........ they never forgot

I grew up with artificial trees and we always would put the tree and decorations up the day/weekend after Thanksgiving.

When I moved out on my own...I only put up decorations once and that was a couple of weeks before Christmas.

Now that I am married w/kid, I have to put the tree up and the rest of the decorations the day after Thanksgiving...or else the kid won't leave me alone. :)

We used to real ones every year that were put up within the week before xmas (putting it up in november's ridiculous IMO, but everyone has their quirks :D).
Now my parents (I go to theirs for xmas) have a fake one they put up about a week before (still).

We use a fresh cut tree and put it up around December 10 and take it down around January 7. I used to go out and cut it myself but have gotten lazy now.

Fake tree and I never took it down from last year. It's been there so long it has become part of the decor.

We usually put the tree up either the week of Thanksgiving, or the week after. As for real or fake, I'm amazed to see so many people using fake trees. I'll take a nice live Frasier Fir thank you. A live tree can last a long time if it's kept watered and if you put some nutrients in the water.

Two weeks before, 18" fake tree on top of the TV, comes down before New Years. Of course if we had kids, it would be different.

When we lived in Washington the trees were much greener and tended to last pretty well, so we had a real one. We usually put it up in the first week and a half or so in December, typically on a Saturday. It was pretty much a family thing, we always made sure we were all there to put up the decorations etc. Since we've moved to Calif, we felt it to be safr to use a fake tree since we like it up so long. Since it's fake and won't die, the tree usually goes up right away after Thanksgiving and stays til New Years. (My mom REALLY likes christmas)

I think since my parents started getting real trees, they take them down a couple days after Christmas. When we had a fake one, they would take it down on New Year's Day

they're going back to a fake tree this year :) real trees are just too much of a pain.

I'm just excited about holidays, I'm still a kid at heart about this stuff. Errr, well, I guess you could say I'm still a kid, I'm 20

I have a neighbor who gets real trees with the root ball, and plants them in the back yard when the season is over to create a tree line at the back fence. At least the trees arent wasted in huge city burnoffs that way.

When I was little we always used to have a real tree. Once I turned about 15, they went with fake trees and it hasn't felt like Christmas since. Just the smell of the tree is something I need at Xmas. Well, this year now that I'm married I can't wait to finally go back to a real tree. FINALLY!

We had a wood burner in the house that would seriously dry the air out. It was so dry in the house that it turned the real christmas trees into an 8 foot tall fire hazard

Other nice things about artificials is that you aren't vaccuming up pine needles for the next 3 months :) I just got used to having an artificial tree I guess.
