When do people's real attitudes come out?

There are situations where you can see the true side of people, like how they treat people at a restaraunt.

Are there any other examples of things like this? The thread about the wife who kept bugging the OP and his friend's friend while they were working on a car got me thinking about this.

Yea there was some owner/ceo and he would take people out to restraunts to see how they treated the staff. He knew they give a fake face to get the job but how they treated the waiter was what he used to see what they trully were.

ie. you have no idea what the wife is like, you only heard one side of the story. the first reply in that thread really does end the thread.

but to answer your question, i'll go with........... the way people drive and / or react to other drivers.

I think true colors come out when a stressful situation arises. It could be personal or professional. Does not matter.
Do they think things through or over-react without understanding everything?
Will they empathize and rationalize?

Isn't that basically a person's true self? I'm much more open and friendly to people I don't know when I'm drunk - which is the way I'd like to be when I'm sober.

That's pretty smart of him, I wonder if he might have a specific restaurant/waiter that acts like he's treating them badly to see how the person is taking it.

Might be interesting if you can get similar results from a game of some kind (poker?) where the person you're playing loses money.

Restaurant is a good one, how people treat flight attendants or airline reservation clerks is another. It's not the clerk's fault that the flight was overbooked, late, or canceled, yet people still berate them as though it were. It's not the flight attendant's fault that you're stuck on the runway, they don't want to be there any more than you do.

I think that a person's true character comes out, usually, when they are dealing with low-level service people who aren't really to blame for the problems they are seeing. Now, everyone has an off day every now and then (their dog died, their going through a divorce, etc) and that can overcome them, but most of the time a good person will be quite kind to service personnel.
