I'm curious to know when you decided to quit pirating software/music or plagerism and why.
When someone posts on here something wherein it's obvious they are pirating they recieve a lot of hostility. I think we need to be reminded of the mind set we were in when we did the same things and hope that they will someday wisen up as you have.

but then again, yall are probably perfect and have never pirated a piece of software in your life.

edit: added crap to the poll

I have all but stopped. Haven't had BT going in so long I can't remember the last time I used it.

I really don't have a desire to have anything I can't just go out and purchase. I only get a CD or a DVD when I really know I want it so it's all good.

is downloading a copy of a TV show you may have missed (for whatever reason) piracy?

what's your definition of piracy? contributing to the world of piracy or downloading for sole personal gain?

I stopped pirating 4 and a half years ago, when I graduated from college. The reason being is that now I could afford to buy my own software/music.

The MPAA thinks it is. They're going after a bunch of BT sites that are dedicated to TV shows. That's one fight I don't think will hold up in court.

thats a rough one.
it probably does count.
for example, ron and fez (a talk radio show out of dc) has moved around quite a bit and they tend to last only a couple years in one place and never really get syndicated...
the solution for rapid fans (its a bit of a cult hit of a radio show, i should add) is to create an "underground" syndication via the internet. now, these exist both live (with ads) and recorded (without ads) and it is brought up on their show that the folks in charge are upset at the concept of said underground...they want it stopped. however, with the live-feed/advertising included stream, i cant really understand why.
another, more universal example may be foreign tv shows that you just cant see in america. with the super-tv packages now, it might not be as relevant as it once was...
we should pay attention to how the new family guy does. its got huge internet fan base but the sales that put it back on the air (about 2 million or so) arnt good numbers for a tv show to get as far as ratings (network) go...and if people are just downloading episodes to watch when they want, it may not stay on for too long after this.
but this raises a larger issue...how media is moving away from the "they program" to "i program" type. anyway, rambling etc.

I get pirated games and other software all the time. The days of me not trying before buying are long gone. Music - I'm just not interested in anything released in the past ten years, so there's no music I want to download. I have everything I want on CD already. Movies - the movies I want to see, I see them at the theater, otherwise I just wait until they show up on cable. I occasionally rent a movie but I'd never bother to download one, and I don't own any movies because I just don't want to watch anything that much.

Just got tired of it. Getting crappy versions or incorrect half copied versions. Had to run around and get cracks and such. Just got annoying, then I got a job where I made enough money just to buy the things I wanted.
