inspired by the uptime thread

You guys are such n00bs. My rig was running an XP install FROM THE DAY IT WAS RELEASED until 4/1/2005. I upgraded to an A64 at that time, and couldn't be arsed to preserve the original installation. Next weekend, I move to XP64.

1985 or 1986, i can't remember what month I moved into this house, but I know I replaced and installed some new windows soon after I moved in.

All these threads are reminding me to re-install using NTSU insted of Fat-32. Too much work 🙁

What's NTSU? You mean NTFS? Go with NTFS if you want better file security, otherwise F32 was OK with me when I used it back with Win98.

pwhite@wkst ~ $ systeminfo
-bash: systeminfo: command not found
pwhite@wkst ~ $ uname -a
Linux wkst 2.6.11.7 #1 Tue Apr 26 14:16:32 CDT 2005 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
pwhite@wkst ~ $

I installed Gentoo on this computer last summer.

I reformat and reinstall once a month (or a few times a day if I'm troubleshooting) because activating Windows is not possible after a certain amount of activations.

I think I mashed the short for need for speed underground and NTFS 😛

Fat 32 doesn't allow for files larger that 4 gigs which makes some stuff a hassle. The reason I went with Fat32 was because my xp-pro disc does nothing when I put it in. I had to use a win98 start up disc and then install win 98, and then win xp over it. There HAS to be an easier way!

Activate Windows? Haha.

/me hugs his VLK package.

Unfortunately, I paid for 2 licenses more than I ultimately needed. Can't wait for XP64-VLK. Only gonna do a minimum order of 5 licenses, though, and add more as neccessary later.
