I did switch around IE3 but now I use a Mozilla derivative on every machine I own, I only use IE when forced to.

AOL took over Netscape, released version 6 which is an ugly cartoonish bloated piece of crap and stopped improving version 4. Time went on and more and more sights won't work with version 4. I was forced to switch to Netscape v6 or to IE. I chose the lesser of two evils and choose IE (IE had in the mean time fixed the problems I had in the past in viewing the websites I frequent).

I've gotten accustomed to IEs problems and they don't bother me any more. I'd consider switching again (to the other browsers that people rave about here), but IE finally works on all websites I visit so I just haven't taken the time or effort to relearn. Plus it is nice to use the windows updates...

Ditto... 4.76 was last good version really.... Now it's Mozilla for me.

I agree, I use Firefox all the time and I only use IE when I need to (Windows and Office Update mainly)...

I've basically never used IE. I started with Mosiac and upgraded to Netscape, then switched to Opera full time when it was apparent that Netscape was going downhill after v4.08. About a year ago I switched from Opera to Firebird.

I'm another IE 3 person.

I used Netscape only until IE 3; after IE 3, I used IE 3 and Netscape 3 (switched back and forth when I got bored with one). After Netscape 4 came out, though, and it was so buggy, I've been IE-only since then.

sure, I play around with other younger and sexier browsers, but at the end of the night, I always return to IE.

as a result of this thread, I decided to try Mozilla Firefox.... let me just say, it's wonderful :)

I've only been using it for about half an hour, but I've enjoyed every minute. it's just so much... faster. hehe.

isnt firefox based on the old netscape core?

It's based on Mozilla which was originally Netscape 5's source code, not sure how much is still there though because it's been a long time.
