When did turn signals become optional?

i think people feel that its not cool to follow the law and us signals. I was riding with someone who didn't use her turn signal. When I asked her why the hell she didn't use it, she said there wasn't any cars in that lane. I then told her that she should use it anyways because it is safe, what what you think you may . . . then she yelled, dont tell me how to drive =\

signaling isn't just a way for your to ask politely if you can get into other's lane, it is also a safety measure, which alerts other drives of your intentions. What if the guy a lane over wants to get into the same lane as you? He doesn't think you're changing, you both change and bam!

The left-most lane is typically referred to as the "passing" lane, not "fast". In some states, there are limitations on how long you can stay in this lane. Of course, you aren't supposed to go above the speed limit in any lane at any time.

I think there are many people out their who don't believe in being courteous to other drivers. They only care about saving that little bit of energy you save by not turning it on.

I noticed that when I moved down here to Florida that people do not believe in turn signals. Back in Idiana MOST people do use their turn signals.

I was with my brother one time when he got cut off from a guy that didnt use his turn signal and he said the funniest thing ever to the driver.

After getting cut off we pulled up to a light and my brother got in the other lane and pulled next to him making the universal roll your window down motion.
He rolled his window down and my brother said "Hey I think your turn signals are broken!"
The guy said "Really, what makes you think they are broken?"
"Because you fvcking didnt use them when you cut me off so I am assuming they are broken or your just a A$$ hole."

The guy gave him a dirty look and rolled up his window.
I about died with laughter.

I think the reason some people don't signal is they are afraid people will prevent them from getting in. Well duh, if you signal 5 miles before your lane change people aren't going to let you in. You have to start changing lanes as soon as you signal. This way the person gets a warning but doesn't get a chance to speed up and cut you off. :roll:

i had to change my signal gear thing in the steering column once. Thats how much my azz signals. It bothers me when people dont signal at the right times and bothers me when people dont let you in when you have ur blinker on.

when people dont let me in i usually gun it and get in further down the line anyways.

in Oklahoma, turn signals actually are optional. they have no vehicle safety inspections. they don't have to have brake lights either.

Hey aphex you know how it is down herein South FL most of the people don't even speak or read English let alone use their turn signals.

Also I fvcking hate it when I put on my turn signal to get over with plenty of room and some fvcker will speed up just to not let me in, times like that I truly understand road rage.
