When did they start putting magnets in gum packaging?

I got a pack of gum recently and was surprised to find the case is kept close with magnets. I never look at brand of gum, I just pick up some spearmint at the checkout line, but apparently it's "iD" brand gum... from Stride. From what I remember it's similar packaging to a normal pack of Stride except it's kept closed by magnets.

Not that a little patch of thin magnets are expensive, it just seems a bit much for gum.
