When did the Simpsons start to suck?

It seems that Simpsons episodes are only trying for one line jokes, shock value and guest stars these days. I just bought Season 7 and I'm really happy with it, however when did it turn from a good story oriented episode to total chaos?

To me it seems around Season 10 or 11 and that's where I will stop buying DVDs at.

I don't think it sucks, it went through a rough patch around seasons 10 thru 13, but I liked most of seasons, 15, 16, and 17 has been pretty good so far.

I think around 1999 is when there were a few bad episodes, and 2000 was when each and every episode started to suck pretty much. Not sure what seasons those are, but that's about right.

Simpsons is still good I find. It's just now, they have a TV show they actually need to compete with (Family Guy) whereas before they dominated everything. I still think that they are good... I mean, imagine if you were a writer. How many seasons have they been good for. Your obviously gonna run outta ideas. I think that they are still DECENT, not as good as family guy, but jesus man, a lot of us grew up with that and you can't blame the writers. Could you do better?

Family Guy is mostly toilet and trash humor. The Simpsons is on a level all its own. The only shows that came close were Futurama and King of the Hill, both of which were canceleld prematurely.

so many classic episodes

i would say it started to really show its age 15-16

most of the episodes in season 16 are fairly bad

this season seems pretty good, 2 or 3 bad episodes and the others have been decent, i'm a little torn on the sideshow bob episode, the way he gets revealed to his italian compatriots as being a criminal is just dumb but the episode had its moment

i loved the momma's boy episode

The Simpsons WAS on a level all its own. Not anymore. by a long shot.

That said, Futurama WAS on a level all its own as well. The absolute absurb amount of innuendo, of effort-ridden plots was simply a joy to experince.

The suicide box scene where Fry meets bender was fantastic....it had me hooked.

King of the hill was crap since it came out. Jesus... This must have been the worst animated show in existance. King of the hill suicks!

Futurama was one show that could compete with simpsons. Morbo was awesome.. Nothing else could compete. I'm drunk and I'm thinking about ordering a cheap escort cause I'm bored. But still, morbo was awesome. Everything he said was worth an oscar! Death to the infidels!, I'm drunk, horny, and confused right now!

Yeah. In order to make writing easier they changed some of the core characters of the show. Isn't Lisa spiritual now or something? Apu has kids, Maude was killed off, Duffman the worst character ever was introduced (prophecized (sp?) by the Poochy episode).
It's just not funny anymore, along with 80% of Family Guy.
I'm not a snob, I don't care how popular something is, if it's funny I'll watch it.
