Funny you should mention this. I'm reading a book about "modern liberalism and American decline" that says a lot of things along this line. Slouching Towards Gomorrah by Robert H. Bork. It's conservative and somewhat pointed, but so far it seems to be pretty rational. I've got no problem listening to almost any kind of ideas if they're carefully considered and respectfully presented.

I'm all for people caring about themselves, but not to the exclusion of others. Besides which, the people who love themselves more than others are much less lovable anyway.

I've seen these boards grow and evolve over the last 7 or so years - the main noticeable difference to me is that there are just a sh!tload more member now than ever before. I like that idea about charging a little $$ to post, etc. - so as to weed out some trolls, kiddies, etc. - ofcourse only if all the members pre-2000 were grandfathered in

Ah, so it's the liberals' fault!

I've read the Bork book, it's very conservative and slanted, basically ONE MAN'S view on all he disagrees with. IMHO.
