When did SE/LE/Pro become a bad thing instead of good?

It used to be SE was Special Edition or Sports Edition, LE was Limited edition, and Pro meant that it was beefier and had extra features. Now it seems like they now mean SE=Short bus Edition or Sucky Edition, LE means Limited capabilities Edition, and Pro means "The crap that we can't sell to high end consumers".

Ive never noticed the change. I have a Honda Accord Special Edition and it has lots of feature not available on the base model.
 
Are you referring strictly to PC components or all things in general?

I think this just happens w/ pc stuff.
 
I've been happy with my Pro cards. Geforce 2 Pro, Radeon 9700 Pro, x1950 Pro. Only non pro card I had was the 6800GT which I loved, but died on me.
 
I think he means video cards. Now you have to look for the X. The more Xs something has, the better it is. Based on this, we know the XFX 8800 GTX XXX Edition is the fastest video card ever. I hear it has a graphic of Liz Taylor and Larry King drinking moonshine and watching porn on it...

I think he means that the X1950 Pro sucks compared to the regular X1950, while the 9700 Pro owns the standard 9700.
