When did it become acceptable to stop in a parking lot, holding those up behind you, while waiting for a spot?

BWAHAHA! Yeah right... You said you don't drive and maybe you don't live in the south-east either, but we've got the road rage fever :D Round here the attitude is if you're gonna cause an accident and it's not gonna be my fault in the eyes of the law, then I ain't budging. Don't move when the light touches green = HONK.COM. Not enough space to get out of your junction, just park your car sideways in the yellow box, hell we can get 2 or 3 in there!

My favourite is when you overtake someone doing like 25mph then they flip their lights on wide beam. Oh no, the pain and suffering, that really showed me. Fvckwits. At least Rover has gone down the tubes so there'll be less of those to get in the way.

As for beeping the horn, yeah it's not supposed to be the done thing but if the police really gave a sh1t, they'd come up with the equivalent of a GATSO to rake in some more cash for the holiday fund.

I'll just lay that bitch on, and finally the person gets flustered and drives on, or those behind them clue into the fact that they can drive around (not always possible, since people often wait in the middle of the lane).

Also, people have a distinct problem with honking at somebody waiting for a gree light. If you don't go when it's green, that's fine, but you should expect to get honked at, and often times it's me, again, a few cars back honking, because other people sit there like zombies, too scared to honk.

WOW, class warfare.

The worst drivers Ive ever seen were at costco. The police used to camp on a hill above the parking lot and watch for accidents on the weekend. Ive also observed a connection between age and bad driving maners. Middle aged people seem to think they own the road.

The vehicle itself also seems to be an issue or the worst drivers just tend to drive SUV's and lexus.

The best advice is to not shop at walmart or costco.

It's a given that if you're shopping at wal mart you're trading efficient time for money.

Other than that, I completely agree with Skoorb, but it doesn't change anything.

Near the Engineering building at LSU, there is a small student parking lot. There are always 5-6 parked around the lot waiting for a space. My favorite thing to do is to dangle my keys as if I'm parked in the area, walk to a car and stop. The lurkers immediately bolt for the location and I just walk away.

We refer to this lot as the "bitch lot."

When I go to Walmart, Best Buy, or any place with a large parking area, I park way in the back to avoid these lazy nutstains. If I can walk my fat ass across the lot, anyone can...

It depends on the situation. If the person is just waiting so they can get the closest spot, then it isn't acceptable to hold people up. But in the case of my college, where the parking lot is absolutely full in the mornings, then screw you. I'm waiting, because I can't believe I actually got a parking spot and I'm already late for class.

So if the WalMart parking lot is just about completely full, you are in the wrong. I think in full parking lot situations it is acceptable, at my college everybody does it and nobody gets pissed when they are waiting because they'll be doing it themselves shortly after.

As for honking, I don't know why people always assume this to be a driver's way of saying "fsck you!" Sometimes people just don't see the light turn green, or space out for a second at a stop. It can happen to everyone, and so I honk to let them know. About half of the people get pissed for some reason, even though I honked because they screwed up.

If I didn't have to go to walmart, I would, but it's already running the show here with no real competitor available for miles.

Yes, i think so too, but i've never seen a full one.

That's the absolute worst! Somebody nearly hits me, I honk at them, and THEY get pissed even though it's obvious who screwed up. It's because the people hate themselves. They hate that they screwed up and hate that they were called out for it, but instead of being critical of their own actions, they're critical of the honkers. This is because most people are not very self-aware and can't be objective at all about if they've done something wrong or right. It's child-like.

What about people who turn out a bit, just before turning in the direction they want to, what are these people thinking?

I remember when I was 16 riding in my friend's tercel some dumbass in a full sized pickup started merging into us. My friend, being a observant and quick driver honked the horn while squeezing the car up against the yellow center line.

The guy in the pickup showed his appreciation for my friends accident preventing actions by honking his horn and shooting us a dirty look.

Moron assholes, the whole lot of them.

I find the opposite to be true.

Also quit being lazy. I'm usually parked and in the store shopping before the "I'll drive around to find a closer space" people find their beloved space.

so glad i dont drive......heheh

hahah oh god don't drive in a US city.

I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but here in Philly people honk constantly. The second the light turns green, everyone is honking. If someone wants you to let them in(or doesn't want to let you in), they honk. The most annoying is if you're at an intersection, you have a stop sign, people going down the non-stop sign street will honk at you so you don't pull out.

I am not one of those people. Damn you!!! I park somewhere and I walk a few paces, but sometimes i'm regretfully caught behind one of these cretins.

When I'm at fault for an el-stupido mistake and somebody honks, I just recognize the mistake and carry on. But I'd have to say that I enjoy the look on people's faces when they continue to rile themselves up over something I did that could have, but didn't, cause problems.

And in full parking lots, I've been known to find pedestrians and follow them all the way to their car so I can take their spot. You think I'm going to wait for them to pull out so I can have the spot? Um, yeah, I just spent 5 minutes earning that spot. Granted if there are open spots at the back I'll take them first before pulling something like that, but that would be a reason I could see myself incurring the wrath of Skoorb.

OK. Then just spread the word.

I probably make the problem worse because if I see someone stop and I'm not in my even (sometimes even if I am)in my car yet I usually get in and play with the radio or make a call till they leave.

Ding Ding Ding! Thats the truth. It's not about the people stuck behind the 'waiter' being patient. I don't mind waiting for a person who is old or someone with kids who wants a closer spot. But when its the average overweight midwesterner, who doesn't want to walk the extra 10 seconds, that holds up the whole row - that irks me to no end.

He's not saying everybody does this, he's just saying that he notices that the people he's usually honking at are of this caliber. It obviously isn't preventing him from going to Wal Mart, and it's not like he honks at everyone in the Wal Mart parking lot.

The difference between this and the sky being blue is that the color of the sky won't eat up his time.

I used to park toward the back of parking lots because I was too impatient to wait for something closer. That changed when my car was broken into and my subs were stolen while I was in the building. Now I'm more willing to spent a minute or two driving around the parking lot for something closer with more people walking around my car. The added foot traffic gives me some false sense of security.
