i remember not about a year ago i was still getting replacement ink for ~$9 a set for my pixma ip4000. now it seems $20 for a set is a "bundle deal".

the place i used to go to though is gone- bulkinkjetcarts.com and i wonder if im just not looking at the best sites...

swiftink.com

I've actually used them for quite a while now and personally haven't had issues with carts but most reviews I've read about swiftink say they take care of their customers if they do run into trouble. I just have had awesome fast service from them so that is why i recommend. The total for the carts were ~$17.50. not too much lower but check out resellerratings.com too :)

For some of the newer printers, the cartridges now need a chip in them to tell the printer they are legit.

Inkstop having gone tits up about a year ago probably didn't help either.

this is why i still have an ip4000. its the last canon series made without chipped ink. chipped ink is nothing more then a scam provider. it forces people to buy original ink, when generic ink is the same thing. ink costs virtually nothing, and they charge an arm and leg for it. i would much rather pay $300 for a printer and be allowed to use whatever ink i want... but whatever its pointless to even complain because it wont change.

so i guess it is true, the cheapest generic ink sites have gone away in the last year. now i cant find anything less then $3 a color plus you still have to pay shipping. bluedogink.com seems the cheapest anyway. i used to buy each color for $1.79 for years and years, with only $6 shipping for any size order.

i might go back to refilling....

ah hah! 77ink! http://www.77ink.com/bci-6/canon-bci6-compatible-3pack-color-p-198.html

$1.90 a color, or a 3 color set for $5. thats what im talkin about.. thanks google! or 3 full (colors and blacks) sets for $18. that is a steal at just over a buck a color.

they even have CHIPPED ink for $17 for a complete set, all five inks. that is awesome, ill have to try this place and if its good they will be getting business from my peeps that have chipped ink printers.

Buy laser. It might cost a lot up front but you can print thousands of pages before needing new toner(s).

I too have an IP4000, but I no longer use pre filled cartridges, for greater savings, I refill my own existing cartridges.

ive used abcink before, but for as much ink as these printers go through i eventually just found the cheapest possible carts. i at least try to stay with the same cheap ink supplier to minimize problems with my printhead, so thats why i didnt know of any of the new sites.

i ordered 11 carts for $24 shipped from 77ink. cant beat that, as long as these dont cause problems (which i never have had with any generic ink).

i used to refill too, but when i run out of ink i just want to slap new stuff in as fast as possible. if anything i would buy those external tanks and all that, but then again if i was going to do that i would probably just go with a color laser.

I've used these guys a couple of times - Red Tag Special found on eBay - very happy with their carts. I have a Canon Pixma MP500 that uses carts with chips, and their carts with chips included work perfectly for me. But for your case, check this set of listings and note their multi-packs. They also do free bonus units with certain multiple-unit orders.

$7 shipped? or if you spend about $50 it comes out to $2.50 a cart, which is close but its still not as good as 77ink. i wouldnt want 18 carts at once either....
