When carbon fiber goes too far.

It's lighter and stronger. Less likely to shatter in the event you've just come home from a chili-eating contest. 😛

Actually it's just ligher. It's much weaker than steel or aluminum.

Hmmmm..

I'll pass. I've gotten my explosive diarrhea down to twice a month. Not worth it IMO.

Carbon fiber is a fiber made from carbon (you can get a more detailed explanation if you do a Google search). Its tensile strength can be extremely high, exceeding that of the best maraging steels, and its compressive strength is also excellent. When used in an binder like thermosetting epoxy, its flexural strength is, again, extremely high. Its density is less than 2g/cc for almost all pre-preg (carbon fiber cloth/tow pre-impregnated with epoxy to ease manufacture) forms.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that many "kinds" of carbon fiber have very high thermal conductivity rates. For example, BP Amoco Thornel P-120 carbon fiber/epoxy advanced composite system (what a name) has a thermal conductivity of 400 W/m-K, whereas steel has a conductivity of 44.5W/m-K, aluminum 127W/m-K, and copper 385 W/m-K. This means that (if the seat is actual carbon fiber) it could very well feel very cold.

Oh, the higher the thermal conductivity, the colder it will feel to the hand. Generally speaking.

EDIT2: Actually, it has to do with specific heat capacity AND thermal conductivity. So I might be wrong; I'm too lazy to check the values again.

Not pound for pound it's not. There's a reason the tubs in F1 cars are carbon monocoques.

UHHH WHAT DO YOU SMOKE MAN

Seriously, don't spread falsehoods. Please.

Ancient repost.

I bought one, now I can finish my morning sh!ts in under 2 minutes!

If you have that on your toilet seat, the price value of your house will go up by at least $10,000.

Better this then waking up on a cold winter morning & having to sit atop a steel throne.😱
