Is there an exchange rate? Is Canadian shame worth more, less or equal to USA shame?
There are likely mod rules in place for deletes, which are actually just marking posts/threads invisible. If it can be locked and have the same effect that's their first option.

This is a very large public forum. Legal requests are likely made on a somewhat regular basis. Maintaining data >>> hard deletes. Marking a thread/posts by user as invisible and just storing the data in the DB just like every other post isn't really that taxing on the system.Oh no you didn't! There are invisible threads? Locking a thread vs. marking invisible becomes and easy decision at that point. Lock everything unless required.
