Given the money making machine the non-profit(!) NFL is, I doubt much will change.

I, for one, sure hope it won't change!

If you don't like it, then don't watch it. Don't think about it and don't post about it. Why would you even care about it? Mind your own damned business and find something worthwhile, that you actually care about, to worry about.

I don't like Soccer, I don't watch it, I don't think about it, and would never post about it. I don't care if it's corrupt, or that fans get killed in the stands all the time, lol! Not my problem. I'll let someone who actually cares about it be concerned about it.

But I do care about it. I care about the psychology of sport, especially violent sports. Don't you want to know what drives you? I got into games for a while (my ex was a Cowboys fan). I understood the appeal of the game; men had a goal with great obstacles. Every game told a story. But (for the people I knew anyway) it also seemed like an excuse to drink heavily.

Ever since we found out that many players are getting multiple weak to severe head injuries that cause great trouble when they get older it just seems too brutal for me, sparking my interest in its popularity.

I don't have to love the game to want to understand it. Your reaction says something about it.

I think the society will one day look back at football the same way as it does now about gladiators. That too was normal at one time. Except they didn't have a gazillion damn commercial breaks to go along with the violence

To go further on this sentiment I think society, if we make it long enough, will look back on violence one day the way we're starting to view slavery today.

If we're to have any chance as a species to make it deep into the future, using violence as a reaction - whether on a large political scale or on a one on one scale in the schoolyard - is something that will need to be eradicated from the playbook of humanity. It holds us back as a species and consumes enormous resources.

I expect this to happen as an evolutionary process with our species adapting slowly and weening out violent human tendencies in the breeding and societal progression process. We already see this slowly happening as we continue to distance ourselves from the much more aggressive tendencies of the lower order animals. There will come a point in time where there are no nuclear weapons, tanks, missiles etc. or a day where we're gone as a result of them.

I was using the analogy of slavery to someone just the other day.

There is no doubt we are a very violent society, both internally and with our actions internationally (no surprise that gets glorified so much). Just like slavery was very normal and accepted at one time, the wanton use of violence is perfectly normal to us. Hopefully we will evolve over time to see that. I am not a pacifist as such, but there is a huge difference between that and the current state of affairs.

Regardless, we will be long done well before that day ever comes. So let us enjoy the violence since it's here anyway.

With our jobs disappearing left and right, those kids need to push themselves hard for those football scholarships.
They got nothing else to hope for.

Am actually surprised the NFL hasnt tried to cut costs by replacing those bitchy millionaires with immigrants.

Only African immigrants would work out, and there are not enough of them interested in football. They are madly in love with soccer
