I'm just hoping it will finally support SLI now that it has 2 16xPCIE slots.

BAH HUM BUG with SLI & Crossfire, let the companies START producing quality DRIVERS FIRST!, then all this dual card crap second.

To much multi card BS out there already, and drivers suck bad enough as it is.

Quality first Quantity next. 😉

damn nvidia. 680i sales are going to drop anyways once 45nm chips are out so they might as well let the performance segment have their penryn chips with sli.
I mean what's better for business? Selling 1 high end 680i mobo (assuming they can sell once the new chips are out) for 250 or selling 2 8800 gtx cards for over 1000?
ah yes, but nVidia have a respin chipset coming ...

Well if nVidia locks intel out of SLI, can Intel in turn lock nVidia out of chipsets for their CPU's? I think nVidia would listen then!

It can technically support SLI, and Intel/Nvidia were in talks about a licensing agreement for SLI for X38 but last I heard the deal fell through. Probably because they realize no one will buy 680i etc. NV chipset MB's if Intel has SLI since that is the only reason to consider NV chipsets.

Nvidia has no business making chipsets. I hate my old nForce 4 board with a passion. My Intel motherboard with a P965 chipset is freaking flawless.

Do you think both Nvidia and ATI don't know how to make optimized drivers by now? The problem is that both DX10 and Vista are new and all the old XP driver optimization techniques do not work with Vista. Creative is going through the same problems because the audio subsystem in Vista has also changed.

At least one of the worst SLI/Crossfire bugs in Vista was caused by Microsoft, not by shoddy drivers. I'm sure there will be more bugs that will turn out to be the fault of Vista and not of the drivers.

Intel new generation chipset X38 has confirmed to ship on August 20-26.

Before that the mainstream P35 and G33 have released formally and the related motherboards have been on the market. Entry segment P31 and G31 also passed to the motherboard manufactures and the related motherboards will come into market very soon.

The first patch of the X38 samples will show up in August and the formal products will get into market in September, but Intel hasnt given the issue date.

Except business Q35 and Q33, Intel 3 series chipsets just left high-end G35.

I read somewhere at HF that X38 is due late August. That's perfect timing for me, will be building a new rig at that time.

Cool I guess I'll wait and not go with P35 then.

By the way that Hardspell URL you posted doesn't work. 🙁

I found the info here:
