When we ousted Saddam from Kuwait, I was stationed in South Korea, about 17 miles south of the DMZ. We went on full alert for a couple of weeks, which meant no going downrange, wearing full battle gear the whole time, and being constantly told how the North Koreans could obliterate any South Korean defense including US forces in under 10 minutes (already setup long range artillery, Migs can reach southernmost points in under two minutes, etc).

Two weeks ago a tree fell onto where I work while i was standing just inside. That was pretty scary.

I think the most afraid I've ever been was when I saw a guy get his hand caught in an industrial fiber shredder (different job at that point). The machine clamped down on his arm and the torque broke bones all the way up (spiral fracture), but the fact that it clamped down saved his life by compressing and slowing blood loss and preventing him from being pulled in further.

Oh me me me. Robbed at gunpoint, although a little lame since it was a fake gun shoved down the guys pants. Still though, 3 v 1 gangsters. Well it was part of their gang initiation anyway. The next day I went down the same street to go eat at the same place outside work. You can't really let something like that make you terrified to walk down the street again. I'm glad I did, I was definitely nervous the first time though. Have no problems with it now. Get back on the horse if you fall off type of thing.

Its what made me so pro-self defense. Wish you could CCW easily around here but you can't, so I don't. Gun control really does just make helpless unarmed victims and armed criminals. The police really do only respond to crimes after they happen, when you need help in seconds the police really do take minutes, etc.. No ones going to intervene and save you if you are getting mugged by 3 gangsters etc. so you are mostly responsible for your own self defense. Some people who live in the middle of suburban California utopia just don't get it I guess. Not everywhere is safe.

I truly have no idea what the liberals think they are gonna do if they get mugged/attacked other than bend over and kiss their ass goodbye if the muggers/attackers decided to kill you, then you are probably dead if you are defenseless. I got lucky is all. So many idiots out there. Guess thats also why there's so many muggers.
