Woot,

What you mean come out??? My supplier claims to have them in stock.
What I wonder is Maxtors new quarantee policy. OEM/BULK drives= 1 year, RETAIL packed drives= 3 years? BS!

intim83,

Sorry, I dont know any "international" site that would have them listed. I checked with local suppliers here, and they have received the first shipments on Monday 23.9. So it should be available pretty much everywhere soon... There is a Finnish net store www.verkkokauppa.com, but it is only in Finnish language, so you may find moving around bit difficult :)

And yes, unfortunately the quarantee policy is correct:(

Are these drive what is otherwise known as the Maxtor MaxLine PLUS II. Apparently the "PLUS" means 8mb onboard cache. Are you after a Serial Drive as opposed to Parallel?

Do you need a "Serial enabled Mobo" to support Serial ATA Drives? Or, is it achieved by a controller card?

Shagga,

The DiamondMax plus 9 is IDE (UATA133) drive series, with either 2Mb or 8Mb of cache (depending on model).
MaxLine plus II is apparently the same drive with SATA.

You dont need support from mobo, there are cards for SATA disks. Allthough there are allready mobos with SATA connectors aswell. There are also adapters to connect IDE drives to SATA controllers.
