Gas prices may *never* go down. If you want the government to make it cheaper, then expect to pay the difference in higher taxes.

Oil is a finite resource. The only real solution would be to purchase an electric vehicle.

Short of economic apocalypse I don't see them going down by any substantial agree for anything but a temporary stint. It's pretty clear that the population is willing to endure $2.50-$3+ indefinitely.

Yes, and the US's consumption of oil is 21 million barrels per day. The Deepwater Horizon spill was pegged at up to 100,000 barrels per day. It's a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of it.

Oil is finite, and it will eventually run out. Maybe not in our lifetimes, but it will.

Gas prices aren't coming down, you can expect to see them rise quite a bit in the coming years. You're going to see double digit prices this decade, no matter who the president is or what he does.

It's inevitable. When the world economy recovers demand from China and India is going to make prices now look like child's play. Notice that you don't see footage of a sea of bicycles in traffic from those countries anymore?

In the meantime big oil, coal, and energy monopolies just destroyed any hopes of a coherent energy policy from congress this session. Why doesn't congress do like they've always done and just let them (big energy) write the legislation and be done with it.

Gas prices are always higest in the summer months, when people are out driving more. They will fall near Oct-Nov and into the winter. Just like it always is. Just like it always will be.

Gas prices go up for a couple of reasons.
1. Supply goes down and demand (Worldwide Increases).
2. The value of money goes down.

Both can happen at the same time.

Every time the USA Borrows more money or prints worthless money, the value of the Dollar Decreases. This causes the cost of things we buy to increase.

With all the drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, it is entirely possible that the supply may be increasing.

Yeah I just don't want to be caught in the lurch when gas starts costing 5-6+$ a gallon in the US due to supply and demand. Soy oil is almost cheaper than gas these days because of govt. subsidies. Next vehicle is going to be diesel.
