Me and a friend of mine are moving down there. He lives in Seattle now and I live in St. Paul MN. Anyway, it is too cold here and I have lived here all my life and he is beginning to hate seattle so we decided to pack it up. He got a grant at the university of miami and I will have to chill for a year before transferring my credits and getting in state tuition. We will be living about 1-2 miles from campus. I am a bit nervous but whats the point of livin if you don't take a few chances here and there. Any advice from people who have moved long distances or people that live down there?

Miami is a crazy place, but anything is better than MSP! 😛

The weather's hot, the women are hot, and if you're a chick--the guys are hot. You're gonna have fun.

edit: U of M is southwest of downtown. It's a nice part of town.

Where in Miami is the university? Right downtown?

We will be about 10 minutes from downtown according to my friend. He flew down last weekend to check the area and find us a place to live 🙂. Yeah, I am a big sports guy and hate winter so I decided to do somethin about it.

Wow, smart decision... you'll love florida. Cold weather just sucks, you won't have to deal with it anymore.

I just came back from visiting university of miami. It's a great school, really nice and in a nice location... tons of babes too! And you're really close to South Beach!

Thats the word, what were you there for? Yeah, cold sucks and all my friends are pissed but they can all go to hell. If they miss me so much they can come move down there too

If you've ever wanted to know what Cuba looks like just hop on over to Calle Ocho or numerous other places in Miami. Also, knowledge of Spanish is recommended. 😉

Actually it's an absolutely gorgeous place with extremely beautiful women of all nationalities and I wish I still lived there instead of the sh!tty state I do now.

Yeah, I know about the cubans and I do speak spannish and I do know about some of the areas to avoid. Not going into the situation blind. Why did you move?

My dad lives in LA, but he bought a condo in Pompano beach. He used to go to college at U of miami, so we visited his old school. I'm going back to florida in a few weeks... thinking about moving there myself.

I can handle the humidity. It is only really horrible in the summer and it's better than dealing with winter in MN. If you have never been through a winter before then you don't understand why I would chose humidity over that.

Agreed. I'd take the warm, humid weather any day over freezing cold winters.

Moved with my folks years ago. A real good friend of mine still lives there though, so I do have a link to my old stomping grounds. 🙂

I liked going to Bayside (an open air mall), the beach of course, and some scenic places that are all over the place. You're really going to enjoy it.

I hope you like the beach, otherwise florida is boring as hell. Ive lived here for 17 years and still don't "like" it, I miss the north. Oh and get ready for the worst humidity ever, i mean to the point that when you walk outside it will feel like you can't breathe.
