by the time you toss in the X-Fi - only have room for either my Killer Nic or PhysX card - have the Intel 975xbx2 board.

What do you guys think, which should i keep/install and which not?

As far as what I play, everything, including Fear, and all the others online and lan games etc... (too hard to pick just one) so yes lots on online and lan games of all types.

System - 8800 GTX, 4GB Ram, 3 Raptors 150, Killer Nic, PhysX, x6800 cpu...

...of course i love cranking up the graphics for the best qualtiy (1600x1200) however perfomance is or should i say less lag is good too...

So what you guys all think? Killer Nic or PhysX card?

...be great if one of these came in PCIe - and yes I know, many people are not fans of either of these, none the less, have them, and i can only pick one..

why do you have a killer NIC? I guess you ran out of stuff to buy, let me guess... 30" monitor?

Do you even own both or for that matter even one of them?

I can say I've seen benefits from both, most people thinking along these lines often do not have them...

...can't say I'm interested in leaving both of them out, more of which to pick - as only one fits (as above), no enough PCI slots...

as well as someone who likes to game, my position also both requires me to and get many items in my hands - some times before they reach the channel (retail sales).

30" was too big (32" actually), prefer dual 22" for work, one for play (only use one when gaming).

killer nic, would not say it changes the world, that it does not, however often people think I'm cheating (and people on our lan) when we play fear - I'm not a good player, simply have bit of edge with the killer nic i can say i've found. gives my at least one shot before you really can do anything about seeing me, again, i'm not a good player really neither.

The Killer nic makes no difference if you've got a normal ethernet phy ( let's say the typical Marvell Yukon series, Realtek RTL series, Via 6/7 series phy ).
Proven in various tests.

As for the physX card...another no go.

I'd use my PCI for something useful ( say a DVB-T card :D )

If I had to choose between the two.. I'd keep the PhysX card...

At least that has potential to do a lot of good...even if it's not used at the moment...

PhysX card if you have to keep one. The Killer Nic looks absolutely useless from everything I have read.

Killer nic. At least he can use it, unlike the physx which works in one and a half games.

PhysX card. The killer NIC is proven to not be noticeably better than even a decent onboard NIC. The PhysX card at least has a few games that it actually does something with. :D

I see it as this: If youre a professional gamer (paid to play games!) then use the Killer card, if not... the other.

I have 2 already (was running Asus Striker)... just have not see a difference in playing and prefered noise level of just one card...

I'm leaning towards the killer nic, in time maybe more games use PhysX - then in hope we have a PCIe card...

Get rid of the sound card an use both! Personally I want a Killer NIC more for "look what I spent 200+ dollars on" and not really the performance increase heh =)

Does it at least have a hardware firewall on it?

I've never understood threads like this... You have both pieces of hardware... You should be telling us which one provides a better value/utility, not the other way around.

I'd keep the KillerNIC, could use it right away for everything. I also think that if physics processing does catch on there should be plenty of future PCI-e options...

If someone hasn't already made one using FNA(Flexible Network Architecture) someone I think even made a bittorrent client that runs solely on the card too. IMO it's a great idea if the opensource community accepts it it'd be awesome to be able to offload my bt client to the damn card so I don't have to eat up cpu cycles everytime bt is checking 8gb+ plus files consecutively.

Wow this is a prime example of people buying into company's PR and not actual people who test stuff.

I'm literally shaking my head right now in disbelief. lol

Actually I've heard that Killer NIC card helps reduce lagg with MMORPG's . Not sure how or if it's true but I was looking for something via google last month and remember skimming thru a thread on another forum where someone said cards like that helped with MMORPG's.
