What's your "sappiness" limit?

How much stuff can a girl do for you (the type of mushy stuff you know most girls like to have done for them) before it crosses the border and you begin disliking it? Do you enjoy/tolerate much mushy stuff? If so, what sorts of sappy things does she do for you (for real or in your imagination) that you enjoy? Leaving sex out of the equation for the moment (because we already know everybody's viewpoint on that.)

My limit is reached when I receive flowers too often. It is a nice touch on a very rare occasion, but otherwise, I just don't dig it. Too many stuffed animals does the same thing. I appreciate the little things the most. Like bringing coffee and muffins to the lab on a late night. Or cooking dinner/desert. When a girl does something to lift a burden off my shoulders, it really hits home for me. It means that she cares enough to identify my problems and help me deal with them by taking those problems on herself.

I am afraid of listing anything that puts women into gender-specific roles, though finding my car washed, laundry done, dishes cleaned and put away, apartment vacumed, etc, is always nice. I'm not saying that these are female roles, or what I expect a girl to do on a regular basis.

I guess I've been married too long. I'm just happy when she's not scolding me. :)

There's a big difference between appreciation/thoughtfulness, and excessive saccharin "highschool girl" sappiness. My limit is pretty damn low.

You know women will wash their cars with a dish rag and Dawn if you don't stop them, right?

Why are you afraid of listing that stuff? It's not like ATOT has a hidden hoarde of women that will jump out and clobber you with frying pans. :p

Yep. My car has never been treated well though, so any washing would be a good washing. 7 years (or more) of sitting outside in the elements has taken its toll.

This might come as a shock to you but I prepare meals,do laundry, clean, shop for treats and do other things for my SO.Thing is though that he also cooks, cleans, shops etc, nobody is expected to do any particular thing based on what's between their legs.

No shock, but I'm still afraid of being smacked with that trout.

I love sappy stuff as well. As long as it doesn't scream "whipped" it's fine. (I had a girl make me a bracelet once but I never wore it because of that reason)

Is that the general concensus?

I've got stuffed animals from girlfriends I keep around my dorm room. Other girls I have over seem to think its cool that i'm comfortable with it. I have no clue as to the limit to the sappiness i'll take. I really just enjoy that they wanted to give me something.

no, i can tolerate sappy behavior at best. put up with it for a while, but if it continues for a sustained period of time, i gotta put it to a stop

I don't really know...my girlfriend was never the sappy type to begin with. I got cards from her sometimes (in addition to the times when you normally get cards, that is - birthdays and such), but that was about it.

On a whim my GF bought a glass thingy with a love poem inscribed on it. I became so angry I wanted to toss it in the garbage. I told her I would rather a box of donuts or a blank CD than this useless piece of ....
