I once attempted to change the password on a 2Wire Portal to "chjcpy~dmaavrek"... it failed. Now I have no idea what the password is, and I can't get in.

A lot of routers can be accessed with either admin/admin or admin/password.
 
At work we keep a list of all the relevant passwords. (In a safe place, mind you) When I was reading through I thought I read that the router login/pass was admin/password. Then I read it again. Yep, they decided to be "clever". The login was password and the password was admin.

Except it wasn't. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that someone changed the password without mentioning what it was to anybody? The only way to fix it is to reboot the router, but work needs the network up 24/7 for the next several months.

In other news, I'm really earning my paycheck at this place.
 
If you use any ASCII symbols such as:

?????????????????????????????

to make password it would be ultra secure
You just need to know the ASCII num code.
For example "?" is 149 so press and hold Alt and press numpad 149 and release Alt
 
I have a d-link, and I've never read the manuel, so I have no clue what the password is. Until I read this thread I wasn't worried, but my neighbor recently secured his router, so I've had to turn mine on more. Anyone know the dlink default?😛
