What's your preferred method for cooking popcorn?

I voted "on the stove" but I really meant "oil + frying pan." I hate the nasty artificial crap they put in microwave popcorn - it comes out so much better if you do it in a frying pan.

I use one of those machines that were all the rage 20 years ago. You know, the one that you turn the crank and it spins an agitator at the bottom. 2 1/2 tbs of oil, a sprinkling of ultra fine popcorn salt and 1/3 cup of popcorn. Nothing better.

If I'm in a pinch, I will throw a bag of ACT II microwave popcorn in, it's my fav brand.

how do you cook popcorn in a pan? it won't hold much will it? and doesn't the popcorn get get oily from... the oil?

The popcorn at my local theater is the best. The popcorn at large theaters sucks real bad, like the AMC.

If I make it at home, I use the microwave because it's so easy.

Yeah, I am not sure how that works. I use a small stock pot I have when I do it. You don't use a lot of oil, a couple of tablespoons, so it doesn't really get too oily. One thing that is a little tricky, you really need to vent the steam, otherwise the popcorn gets a bit chewy.

Personally I like air popping and then pouring on the butter

same here. air popped, real melted butter, & sea salt, ftw.

same +nutritional yeast

Nutritional Yeast FTW!!!!

Air popping for health, uniformity and zero burnt kernels killer topped with nutritional yeast and tamari (soy) sauce -- OR -- garlic powder, parmesan, sea salt and cayenne . . . butter optional on the latter.

In a kettle, corn oil & a bit of sugar added, with just a light pinch of salt.

Kettlecorn!
