It pisses me off that so many people consider this a choice in every situation.

Yes, it is a choice for many people. But people also have naturally overweight body types. I hate it when I see fat people ordering tons of fast food because it's so obvious that they've got some terrible bad habits that they should break but can't or won't (just like smokers or alcoholics).

You could take two people and, given equivalent lifestyles (same amount of exercise, same diet), one would end up being fat and the other would not.

I'm just saying it's unfair to judge someone who weighs more than you without getting at least a little evidence to show that it's a series of bad choices that led to their situation, not simply being stuck with an unfortunate body type.

Stop whining for fucks sake. Of course it's a choice for almost all fat people.

Yes, some people have to work harder to stay in shape. Some people are more predisposed to being fat. Some people are born better looking than other. Some are born smarter than others. Etc.

Your argument is like saying that a high school dropout isn't making a choice because he isn't as smart as Stephen Hawking. Some people have to work harder. That's the way it is. Stop crying.

Wow, I'm not even whining, you're just being an asshole.

You probably mock people who die of lung cancer even if they never smoked (yes, many people die of lung cancer who don't smoke, and many smokers never get lung cancer). Life isn't fair, human physiology varies, and just because you lucked out gives you license to bitch about everyone else?

Honestly, I see way, WAY more bitching from thin/average people about fat people than I do the other way around. You do not know how difficult it is for some people to lose weight. I'm about 250 lbs, and I'm lucky that I am tall and I carry it well, so I don't look grotesquely obese, just overweight (even though my BMI does make me technically obese). I am also lucky that I have put enough effort into controlling my diet that I'm not a lot fatter than I am. If I just let myself go, never exercised, and always ate fast food, never even thinking about what I was eating, I'd probably be a lot worse off than I am.

On the extreme side theres a dude at work who is about 125lbs. and brings in snacks. He has to eat constantly but he never gains a single pound. I swear I watch him go through the entire product line of Little Debbie snacks all day, the work refrigerator is stocked full of his soda of which he drinks around 3 a day on his shift, but he never gains a single pound. Damn, to have his metabolism.. Life would be gooood.. Expensive.. but gooood..

That might sound fun, but give him a few years and his metabolism will kick down. His eating habits won't change though, so he'll start putting on the pounds like crazy really fast, lol.

Yep. Happened to me. 165 --> 220 lbs. 5'11 26yrs old.

Those pictures aren't THAT bad... that's sort of like someone's dad or grandpa with a pot belly. Not a huge deal.

I lose respect for the fatties who are a few pounds away from a motor scooter.

Can't weight for that day.

Uh, wait. Honest mistake.

Im not entirely bothered by fat people. I feel it is their choice and right to be as fat as they want. However, I do believe that it IS their choice. When they start to try and kid themselves and blame McDonalds for making tasty food, or whatever crap some overweight people have pulled, that I loose respect for them. Exorcizer and eat less before its too late and you can't, Yes, your weight wont just fly off in a week (it didn't just come on in a week either), but it will come off.

It just bothers me that so many people are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions. You are fat because you consumed more energy then you expended, simple as that.

Winrar!

Your poll needs more options. I'm not skinny, I'm normal. I'm maybe 5 lbs overweight tops, and that depends on the standard you use (I'm 5'11", 185 lbs).

As for my opinion of fat people, depends on the reason they're fat. If they're just too lazy to haul their ass into the gym, then yes, I think less of them. If it's genetic then I have more sympathy, but I still think they should do something about it.

Seriously, all you really need to do to get healthy/normal is exercise consistently and lay off the tip of the (now old) food pyramid. Sure you can get fat off of other stuff, but most of the fat/obese people I know basically eat half a carton of oreos for a snack. Just eat a loaf of bread or a couple cans of tuna or something. Hell there are a lot of options that are actually more filling than any cheap dessert you can think of.

First off, I haven't mocked anyone. I haven't bitched about anyone. I've simply called it like it is, or to be more honest, like I see it. If you don't like it or agree, well I honestly don't care.

Second. Of course you see more bitching about fat people by skinny people as opposed to the opposite. What in the name of God would fat people possibly bitch about skinny people for?

Third. I'm not some 6' 140lb guy. I'm 6'3" and optimal weight for me is around 185 or so. My weight bobs up and down and I'm at about 205 right now. Occasionally I really blow up in the Winter when I can't stay active and get to 230 or so. When that happens, I stop and go 'damn, I'm way to fucking fat'. Then I lay off the junk food, start exercising more, and drop back down to an acceptable weight. It's really not that difficult. All it requires is a little effort. I understand it can be hard to lose weight, but the trick is not gaining it in the first place. People need to put the ding dongs and big macs down before the reach 300lbs and there metabolism has slowed so much that natural weight loss is virtually impossible.

This is true for everyone.

Not picking on you, just replying to a common misconception that skinny people do not need to control themselves to remain skinny. Once a guy reaches his mid-20's, he needs to work at staying in shape and control the food he eats. Otherwise he will gain weight.

The source of the problem is not the people, it is with our government and society. If our government paid for a social health care system, they would create laws that would provide for better health in order to spend less money on health issues. Improved public transportation, food quality, types of food, and a reliable FDA are all benefits society would realize when medical insurance is abolished and a true social health care system is provided. Until this country develops a social health care system that takes care of everyone within it, equally, it is not a civilized society.

Unfortunately, the idiots in this country believe "social" is evil. These are the same people who believe "communism" is evil but fail to realize that our country now mimics the evils of communism with government ownership and bailouts of what used to be a free market. It is ALL interconnected in stupidity.

But if you're obese, well you need to be more aware of your health.

I'm not a fan of the "little chubby" girls. I don't really have any overweight friends either. It may not be that I purposefully avoid overweight people, but instead I tend to hang out with active people.

Yep, girls who are chubby are not that good looking. Curvy on the other hand is great.

Generally, I find a girl hot if their BMI is 1.5 to 4 pts below mine.
My BMI is about 24.5.

Bingo. Personal responsibility seems to be ignored in cases of overweight/obese folks. (as well as in many other cases, but that's another topic)

I'm the same way, I'm 6'2"-6'3" and ideal is like 196. Now, I've got a bigger build, so I think I'd look ridiculous at 196, but the point is what flxnimprtmsc said is right. I've gotten up to 255-260 and gone, "Well shit, I'm just too big" and cleaned up my diet and got back in the gym. People are just more willing to sacrifice exercise for the sake of not missing their favorite TV show.

I figure my energy is better spent worrying about my
own weight and food choices than hating on other people's.
