a BBS is no internet...

from that point of view i would have to count the days (mid 80s) when i built my "trust" acoustic-modem and connected to some local BBS.

But the first contact with the REAL internet was when i got a phonen umber from a friend which connected me to the local uni (terminal server)..and by entering an IP i was connected to a MUD (multi user dungeon). That was my fist contact with the internet. Before that were years of extreme intensive BBS-ing..which i dont count Sorry

I remember when the bbs started giving free email, my address was almost 45 characters long, but it was soooo cool to have email back then.

if they don't count, then AOL back when "phishing" accounts was the cool thing to do...

When I first connected to the net, it was by a 9600 baud modem to a dial-up BSD server. The web was all text, and I spent most of my time on IRC, MUDs, and newsgroups. I think I was about 10 or 11.

I was BBS'ing at 5 and ran my own at 7.
