I remember when US consumers bitched about thing made in Japan, now we wish is still was. I have several MIJ Vantage guitars from the late 70s that are of much higher quality than anything, including the US, made today.

You mean "What's you next purchase" right? the "China" in the question is unnecessary.

Yeah, Japan never had any new ideas, R&D, innovation either... they too just stole US ideas via corporate espionage and corporate spies and smuggled the stolen blueprints out of the country via a elaborate spy network. I too do not understand why people make such a big deal about China... people just overreact...

I just got a cheap charcoal BBQ grill at Walmart for Labor Day. Half the price of the Weber they had (which is probably also made in China), and will probably rust out just as quickly.

I'll probably buy a cheap tablet next.

My next purchases actually are made in Ohio. Rogue Fitness manufactures all their bars and power racks here which is awesome. Next China purchase over 100 will be a new fridge and washer. And the Instant Pot, although I hear that's Canadian (probably manufactured in China tho).

You sure it isn't just "assembled" in Ohio? :awe:

I just bought a stainless steel piece of furniture. Made in China stamped all over it.

The kettle I bought earlier in the year was from a Canadian company that prided itself on items made in Canada... Except the kettle was made in China, and two more pieces of cookware I bought from them were also made in China. I think only their higher quality stuff was Canadian made, the cheaper stuff that I bought was made in China -- probably why it was 1/3 the price of other stuff in their catalog.

No, all Rogue Fitness stuff is made in the USA, included the metal parts. Their Westside racks are second to none, and their Ohio Bar is pretty dam good.

next time you buy and eat a deboned frozen fish, that fish was probably frozen and shipped to China, thawed, deboned, refrozen and shipped back to make it to your freezer. All at a cheaper cost than deboning it here or in Canada.

I have a friend who works in the timber industry. He buys trees in the Midwest, ships them to China to be cut into whatever type of boards his company wants, then the cut-up lumber is shipped back to the US to be sold to furniture manufacturers and other companies. It's hard to believe that is cheaper than doing it all here but he assures me it is.

My next major purchase will likely be a water heater. I have no idea if China is now the source for those.

Assuming at Least some portion of an LG Electronics Inc. 34" extra wide monitor is assembled or made in China and not South Korea I can't think of any other $100 or greater planned purchase that will be made in or had some parts or 'value added' assembly in a China. That really amazes me as every thing from a Auto Parts to Zip ties is made in China.

They took pride in their craftsmanship. The Chinese as a whole have no pride. They don't even care to innovate. Almost everything they have is an idea ripped off from someone else and backwards engineered and mass produced with cheap parts.
