Me too.
Each artist has a folder and then a folder for each album.
I play em with either itunes or WMP.

Whatever you do, don't let itunes rearrange your library. It puts everything into cryptic folders.

You sure about that? All my iTunes organized music are in folders organized by Artist/Album
OK, maybe not cryptic. But they weren't arranged to my liking. I deleted the whole thing and pulled out my backup.
Besides albums, I have hundreds of mp3s of one song from one artist. I don't like keeping those buried in layers of folders.
Point is, is you have your music oraganized a certain way, don't check the box to "keep itunes music folder organized."

I still use MusicMatch 7.5 (full version). Used iTunes a bit, too counterintuitive and messes too much with things, and I didn't have granular enough control.

I organize so:
D:My Documents\Music\Artist\Album\Track# - Artist - Song Name.mp3

Example:
D:\My Documents\Dead Can Dance\Aion\01 - Dead Can Dance - The Arrival And The Reunion.mp3

I find prefacing the filename with the Track # to be really useful with keeping files in order if I'm dragging them to my MP3 player etc. Renaming the files manually, of course, would be way too much work so Musicmatch can rename the files from the tag, or tag them from the filename etc......

I also have had problems finding a music app which acts as a sort of Swiss army knife: small and compact, and will do everything you tell it to and nothing else.

Same here. I got about 15 gigs of mp3s, but I organized it myself using folders by artist and album, so I dont need no bloated jukebox app. Just using good ole winamp.
