Try and get on a local fire department. Pay and benefits are much, much, better. They will usually send you to paramedic school, too...

That would certainly be ideal except for living in a broke city in a broke state.

Will certainly consider it though, especially if I move.

Was just thinking this.

Anyway, Electrical/Controls Engineer - i.e. design and program electrical controls systems.

Like this.

(note: Did not design the mechanical system, only the electrical system and all of the programming of the system, robot and HMI).

same. Have worked on robots, ASRS, conveying systems, process systems. Recently have spent most of my time writing interfaces between plant floor operations (PLC,PAC,on machine controls) and upper level systems like SAP, JDE and some other MES type applications.

I wanted to strangle the only tech writer I've ever worked with. But I'm sure you two aren't nearly as dumb.

If I was a tech writer I'd want to strangle myself. Technical writing is not something I enjoy, I'm glad there's other people that do it so I can avoid it sometimes.

ARGH...after my last job and "in house developed" software (PC based) running ASRS and conveyor systems, I said screw that. If it were on a PLC fine, but the way it ran (or rather didn't run) it was *barf*.

Opera singer but did lots of Musical theater when I was younger. I am actually gainfully employed and have actually made money making music my whole life not those sad people who hold on to the candle way too long.

Now that we are getting older I have invested and started two small businesses to transition away from traveling for 12 months of the year...

I feel bad for Ruby since she has to hear bad musical theater ALL the time as a cruise ship tech ^^ jk

At least you get to laugh when the ship moves while someone is dancing or making a throw with a dance partner...

LOL, I have replaced a couple PC based ASRS's in the last couple of years(I work for an integrator) with PLCs. Whoever came up with those ideas should be shot. They were pretty shitty.
