What's your impression of 3-series drivers?

Sure you did. You just called the M3 comfortable.

Or, conversely, perhaps my point was that my car is about as comfortable as an M3... which is to say... not so much.

LOL....um...no...you said your Camry is as comfortable as a M3...I did not. I've driven both a Camry and an M3 and I will tell you the Camry floats over stuff way more than the M3. So unless you've lowered your Camry or put some suspension "upgrades" on it ... it is certainly more "comfortable" than an M3 ...and as a result comes no where close to as dynamically pleasing as an M3. Heck, I've only driven a late model M3 on a track...and I still could tell it is less "comfortable" than a Camry.

Wat?

If 3 series was mid-size, what does that make the 5 series? lol? Does that make any sense?

Does the 3 series even look anything other than a compact?

Is Lexus IS also a mid-size car now too?

What's going on?

The 3 series, C-Class, TSX, A4, and IS are all Compacts.

No need to be an asshole, you could just cite a source.

Exactly. You just made a couple of false assumptions.

1) You didn't drive a factory ordered car with a TRD Suspension, TRD Exhaust, TRD AF and TRD Wheels. If you have seen a TRD Aurion, you'd also be able to source a TRD Supercharger and TRD Brakes onto the US version (Camry).

My car is about as comfortable as an M3, but you will probably never drive a TRD Camry because they're likely rarer than an M3. Also, you've probably never heard of the SE version (though you've probably seen one with the bodykit as it looks fairly significantly different) - these also do not drive like the one you drove.

As for where it all started.. the retard above called the E-Class Coupe "Bloated" (though it is smaller than the Sedan), while he failingly does not realize it is actually a CLK replacement and is built on the C-Class. The C63 AMG is not soft. The CLK63 AMG is not soft. The E-Class Coupe AMG, when Mercedes builds one, will NOT be soft. It will kick ass and will undoubtably give the M3 a run for its money, if not kick it in the groins.

To be clear, I didn't say the E class coupe is bloated - I said it looks bloated, a sentiment I stand by. To me it looks like it has Down's Syndrome, and I was being sincere in saying it seems to me to have more in common spiritually with the (ugly, pointless) Camry Solara than an M3. I don't care how hard MB makes the suspension - it, like almost all the other AMG cars, is and always will be under-chassised for its power output and thus will never be able to hang with an M3 on the track, even if it beats it in a straight line. (See, e.g., the drubbing the M3 handed the RS4 and C63 here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaZExdTHHjY).

Your TRD Camry sounds like an interesting car, though I can't see how it could overcome the intrinsic limitations of putting its power through the front wheels. Whatever floats your boat, in any case.

Well, we'll see about the AMG E-Coupe. Clearly, the M3 has been king of the track, but I've seen comparisons that don't put the C63 far behind.

The Camry is a beater. My next car is, hopefully a Lotus Evora.

Interesting choice. I don't think I could deal with a Lotus as a primary car - too brittle and costly to repair - but the Evora looks pretty nice. I'd find it hard to actually buy one when M3s and 911s are still on the market, but there's no question it's a more unusual, exotic car than those.

^ you know those small parking spots that are marked for "compacts only"? Do you think they had a 335i in mind?

So much hate in this thread.

I've got a 335i. I don't drive like an asshole. In fact, I have 2 kids in my car often times so I am pretty careful. Why should anyone else care if I got a BMW or even a 335i? It's for me not them. If I want to my car to have the ability to outrace 95% of the cars on the road that's my choice. If I want to spend over $40K on a car, why should anyone else care, it's not their money. Just because someone can't afford or doesn't want to spend that kind of money on a car, doesn't mean it's wrong for someone else to.

Someone mentioned that the 335i had a $15K premium over comparable cars but I didn't see that. I got mine for about $41K. I don't have the premium package but I do have sport, upgraded stereo and other things. Even if I did, it would be about $44K. That's not much of a premium over an IS350, G37S, C350 and other cars in the range and it's cheaper or about the same as an S4 which is a direct competitor to it. I was planning on getting a G37S sedan but they didn't offer a manual (at the time) and though the car was less expensive there were no competitive financing packages available. I got 0.9% financing compared to 2.9% for the G. I calculated the price of the G37S to be only slightly cheaper than the 335i after interest, charges and maintenance.

No hate here. It depends on where you live I suppose, but everyone has a 3 series equivalent or has the means to obtain one around here (Boston), so it really doesn't matter.

The other day, I saw THIS cruising... now I got behind this sucker and was drooling. You wouldn't believe how freaking huge this thing is... LOW yet WIDE like a fucking truck.

Those things look really funky. I saw the older version McLaren two weeks ago. I've never seen one before. I thought it was an MB SL until it got close and I noticed how large it was.

I find the SLS a little disappointing stylistically, though I do like it better than the SLR (I think the proportions of the SLR are ungainly). The original 300SL was lovely, and the 300SLR even more so, but I find the SLS design a little uninspired. In fairness I haven't seen one in person, and I'm sure it's got real presence that doesn't necessarily come across on paper. Also, would it kill MB to make a sports car with a friggin' manual transmission (at least the SLS has a DCG, bit I'd prefer a true manual)?
