Last time I filled up was 12-28-2023. Paid $2.81. I was shocked the other day to see $3.63. I was going to fill up, but luckily stii have almost half a tank. I usually fill up at this point.

Three days ago.
Cheap stations
Safeway -3.91
Costco - 3.81
Chevron - 4.69
Shell - 4.69

Three days later
Safeway - 4.29
Costco - 3.99
Chevron - 5.09
Shell - 5.09

So five weeks later, everyone's up a buck or more.

Safeway - 5.15
Costco - 5.09
Chevron - 5.69
Shell - 5.69

Same excuses as always.
1) switching to the more expensive summer blend
2) planned maintenance on a refinery or two

$3.89 the cheapest, $4.09 at the brand name stations. We have a chain here, Terrible Herbst that gives something away everytime you buy gas. They always give a free fountain drink or a cup of coffee. And every month they give away different brand name products. This month a Free Monster Energy drink, and a liter bottle of Dasani water. Early in the month I will get some gas to see what the freebies are.

There are 2 stations here, 1 in the middle of town the other close to my house. Grocery store is right by the one, so if it's something I like I will put $10 on one card get the freebies. Then stop at the other one by the house, put some more gas in on another card.

95 octane in our recent trip to Europe was about 1.6 Euros per liter or just over $6 a gallon. I fueled up my vehicle on the drive home from the airport and 87 octane was $3.57 or something like that. My car gets best results using 93 octane but I can't ever find that in the upper midwest, and when I do it's almost a buck a gallon more expensive over $4 a gallon. I did not track the Opel Crossland's fuel mileage while we were there, but online it says it can get almost 50 mpg.

Two days later up another 20-25 cents for the brand names.

Safeway - 5.11
Costco - 5.15
Chevron - 5.89
Shell - 5.95

$4.41 at the Safeway in Aberdeen...$4.89 at the Shell station here in town.
The local Safeway was $4.61, forgot to get gas…so I was expecting to pay almost $5.00 here…to my surprise, the little 76 station at Hogan’s corner was only $4.69. I threw in $100…that will get me by for a couple of weeks…if I stay kind of local.

Apparently it's going to go up by like 14 cents in the GTA soon. Which means it will probably go up here too.

Currently $169.3/litre at the cheapest station in the area, and 176.6 at the next town over about an hour from here.
