In the last week Tallahassee prices at Sam's and Costco have dropped another 20 cents. Currently $3.69. That's 55 cents down in the last 3 weeks. Almost down to the same prices as at the beginning of March when all these price hikes started. I like it.

I don't see this changing any time soon, they are blaming this on the Ukraine war and I think that will last a while. I still say we should use our own oil and not rely on the world market, but guess that's just crazy talk.

I think his point is if North America decided to rely exclusively on North American oil we could regulate the prices better and while I dont know if thats true I do get his point.
We're not talking about isolationism, just regulating crude oil. Which we do anyway, FYI.
 
I just spent 12 days in California driving around San Francisco then through Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Pope Valley then got back on the 101 and headed all the way up to Redwood Valley to see the Avenue of the Giants and then back down to San Francisco. To pay $4.43/gallon for regular grade would have been a dream.....jus sayin'.

I know this might sting a little but you California people get raped when it comes to paying for things and this is coming from a guy who lives in Illinois......

I know what he was saying but what's the chances of that happening? You're basically talking about making the US a hermit kingdom when it comes to oil and not allowing any domestic oil exports or foreign oil imports. US refineries refine a significant amount of Canadian crude. You can't just cut thay off without significant repercussions for industry and consumers.
 
I managed to not have to fill up my TDI while diesel was over $6, stopped at Costco on my way to a concert on Sunday and paid $5.399, and the next day it was down to $5.299 (and has come down a few more cents yet since then)

I mean, looking at prescription drug prices, I'm not confident that we could depend on having cheap gas just because our oil supply was domestic.

So last week I paid 6.00/gal. Although this was was still .70/gal more than I have ever paid before, gas prices have been dropping the past couple weeks. That standard station has dropped to 6.39 and gas can be had for 5.85/gal now at ARCO and Costco.

So the station I paid 6.00/gal July 1st dropped to 4.91 a month later. The standard station that had dropped from 6.69 to 6.39 last month has dropped another .70 down to 5.69/gal.
Overall it looks like my area is about .70/gal higher than it was before the start of the rise.
Gas was probably averaging about 4.25-4.50/gal before the start of the price rises.

Having everything you mentioned within a radius of several hours + all the coastal beauty nearby on top of it is why we deal with CA pricing. Being able to go for a beautiful walk something like 330 days out of the year in temperate, low humidity weather makes it almost worth it.

I'mma go have a nice walk down to the beach in a hoodie and shorts when you're freezing your walnuts off this winter.

I wouldn't live in central IL again if the gas was FREE.
