Generally I'm talking about store-bought, not restaurant bought. I've heard a lot of people say Hebrew National, but they didn't seem all that special to me. Of all the many store-bought wieners I've tried I'd say the Ballpark beef wieners have been the best.

If we are talking about restaurant-bought wieners, then James Coney Island regular hot dogs, hands down. They are truly something special. I wish you could buy them in the store.

Hebrew National is really good. Got these from Costco recently and they're also fantastic:

OMG! Saltynuts is asking what is your favorite wiener. Won't touch that!

Well, I hate hot dogs. Last had one at a ball park 10 years back. It was a Fenway Frank. I only ate one because of peer pressure. It tasted god awful. Just knowing what the worst kind of beef or pork is in these things is enough to turn me off. Add in the cancer causing preservatives, and it is a definitive no go.

So a few months back I was in Whole Wallet (Foods) and I see a someone offering samples of Applegate Farms beef hot dogs. I decided to try a 3/4 in. sample, knowing at least there are no nitrates or artificial colors or flavors. It actually tasted very good. Still haven't bought a package, but if I do, this is the only one I'd buy.

I thought the same thing when I saw the subject and user name. I'll have to try those boar's head hotdogs; I've liked everything I've tried from them. My favorite I've had is was just natural cased dogs from the local meat market where I grew up.

Nathan's.
That's a kosher hotdog. I doubt it's much different from Hebrew National. I don't buy hotdogs anymore. If I buy something like that these days it's a Saag's Louisiana Brand sausage. They used to have hot and mild, these days the market I patronize only has the hot. I'm OK with that.

Kayems myself these days, have tried a lot of the other ones listed.

http://www.kayem.com/

Depends on what is one sale a lot of the time, Boars Head is second IMHO, Nanthan's at 3, and Hebrew National 4th.

Boils down to personal preference a bit I imagine, we buy about any of the above if they are 2 for 1.

Snausages are a different category :)

I'm not sure, but the new type by Oscar Meyer is very good.

100% Angus Applewood Smoked.

Applewood seems to be one of the latest trends these days.

The wife bought a couple 2 for 1 Jimmy Dean smoked Applewood bacon the other day, we made one raster on the broiler for BLTs, it was very good.

And it did not shrink a lot, but back to hotdogs :)
