Empire of the Sun gets my vote. Christian Bale blew me away. I was convinced that I saw a spoiled boy dragged into the horrors of the real world at war and felt genuine pity. The scene when he doesn't even recognize his own parents is burned into my memory.

lol... Jurassic Park is a underrated Spielberg film, while The Lost World is among his worst...

"Underrated?!" Where were you when it was released? It was all anyone talked about! People compared everything else to it for years.

People went on and on about the effects & budget but not the directing or casting. I think the writing translated the book horribly, but it was still a good movie.

The one with the cute sympathetic kid and low, medium shots that employ soft focus.

I think you're being reverse-trolled.

I like pretty much all of his movies and am really bad at picking a favorite anything. Some guy asked me the other day who my favorite musician is and I just stood there and realized I have no answer.

Hey now, I said "pretty much all". The outliers should be obvious! Which means maybe for me it should be 'which did you not like?' Let's see...

War of the Worlds... meh
Crystal Skull

And that's pretty much it of the ones I've seen, which I believe encompasses every one of his films from Jaws up until the last couple of years or so. (Haven't seen Tintin, War Horse, etc.)

Oh hell I forgot all about The Duel. I remember watching that one night about 10-15 years ago and thinking it was pretty awful but also remember being mesmerized to the point where I had to finish it. I didn't find out until months later that it was Spielberg.
