Aphex Twin - Film

If anyone knows this song... it has the same melody as the song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory called "pure imagination"

Are you a fan of the movie Heat? All I can think of is the duel at the end between Pacino and DeNiro.

Some of the best musical pieces in movies:

Last of the Mohicans - Promenade
Dances with Wolves - the John Dunbar Theme
Titanic - Rose's Theme
Braveheart - Outlawed Tunes

From Felix Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words - Contemplation, Op. 30, No. 1 Eb Major

And of course, Metallica - Orion.

Either Mason Williams' "Classical Gas" or ELO's "Fire On High". Though arguably "Fire On High" doesn't count since it has backmasking in the beginning of the song, so it does have lyrics if you play it backwards.

Or, if I'm in the right mood, Glenn Miller's "In The Mood".

Bonus: Can you name what words are in the beginning of "Fire On High"?

Erin Shore. I've heard versions by The Corrs (drum solo lasts way too long, but otherwise good) and The Royal Irish Regiment, which is alright, though each repetition lacks uniqueness, they're all very much the same to my ears. And the bagpipes just aren't as soothing as the instruments used in the Corrs' version.
Oh, also the version from a "Celtic Dreams" CD. It sounds like something out of a jazz club that uses poorly synthesized instrumentation.

The Wallace and Gromit theme is pretty catchy, too. :)

Other good ones:
Enya
Comb of the Winds
Sun In The Stream
To Go Beyond (II) (vocals, but no words)

Sarah McLachlan

I don't have a favorite, but if you're feeling mellow, there's a lot of instrumental music on Paul Hardcastle's Jazzmasters series that's most excellent.
