The old runner's newsgroups were FULL of opinions on running shoes. The general consensus was that Nike was the junkiest junk this side of junk mountain.

Right now I use a pair of Etonic that I picked up at Costco about a year ago.

I have no idea who the best is these days. I just try 'em on & if they feel comfortable & aren't ridiculously overpriced, I buy them.

you should really go to a running shoe specialty store and have them analyze the way you run before making a purchase. for people that run long lengths, bad shoes are the first thing that cause knee problems, painful feet, and bad backs. most of these places dont charge anything. you just go, they tell u to run, and recommend 4-5 pairs of shoes.

if you only have a major sports chain nearby, asics, brooks, saucony, new balance are all popular running shoe brands.

Throwing money at your feet, at big brands does not make a perfect running shoe. Wear what feels best, forget about all those gazillion dollars of advertising. It does not make the shoe more comfortable!
