XDA will probably be much better. I'm actually in the same boat. I'm on 6.0.1 and am feeling ready for 7.

But right now, what is it that makes you want to go to 7? There is nothing exclusive to 7 that I need yet, so I keep putting it off.

Any custom Kernels you already running? I care more about a good Kernel than a ROM right now. If we were on Android 5, getting to 7 would be a huge priority imo.

But good luck on finding one you like. My Note 4 has like 3...

How are you still on 6? The S7 was officially updated to 7.0 almost a year ago...

AND one would know it takes many...many hours of testing to make any ROM stable on any google platform. It's not just a walk in the park to slap one on any phone running google's latest OS.

While still avoiding the actual question, you also ignore that OEMs are kind of required to do quite a bit of testing before release, and not just to keep their reputation up, but they also have to get certified by carriers most of the time.

Well, XDA has quite a lot of dedicated amateur developers. Having used many ROMs in the past for a variety of tablets and phones, it is an awesome way to breathe new life into your device.

The Anandtech forums is not a great place to go if looking for ROM advice.

ok i will check XDA.
one of the annoying thing with this ATT s7 is that mobile hotspot is not possible on android 6.
i finally updated to android 7 and now it lets me do mobile hotspot without any fuss. guess i will stick with stock ROM for now.

i saw same thing too. but when i activate the hotspot, it would say contact AT&T to get started or something.
so i got the official update 2 days ago. hotspot is now available without any fuss. also battery life is much much better now! instead of lasting till 7pm each day, i can last up to 11am next day on 1 charge.

I just don't understand why people don't take official updates for most of a year. Wait a month if there are severe issues, maybe. But Samsung isn't Google, anyway, inclined to release betas as official updates... if it makes it to OTA from Samsung it's likely to be pretty good.
