I have no idea what either means, but it doesn't make them any less poetic.

Dad : "Up Mike's, down Jakes, where ya get the hot pancakes".
Over the years, he fine tuned that to "Up Mike's ass to get a ham samwich".
His best answer in the last 5 years...
Anyone : "Whatcha doin?"
Dad : "Living on the edge."
