Star Raiders (which came with my Atari 800.)

and

Crush, Crumble, and Chomp - one of the best turn based strategy games. You could play as a regular Godzilla type monster, or sea monster, or even a flying monster and attack cities like San fran, Tokyo and New York. Man, I wasted so many hours playing that game (most of the time was SPENT loading that game from cassette tape)

I know what you mean! We used to have to wait about 10 minutes for Manic Miner to load on our C64, sometimes it would crash as soon as it had loaded.

All the apogee games like:
Crystal Caves

Commander keen

The original gameboy games and superNES games were so cool too. Love them.

I'd also vote for Commander Keen. My friend had this game and I spent countless hours at her house. Alright, so it wasn't just to play the game, but . . .

I also enjoyed many hours of the original Wizardry games. Those were some of the best RPG/adventure games ever! No game from any genre -- with the possible exception of Chrono Trigger -- will ever take the place of Wizardry in my mind.

UFO - Odyssey II
Bosconian - Arcade Game
Dog Daze, Space Dungeon, Spelunker, Spin Dizzy - Atari 800
Warlords, Wolfenstein and Wasteland for early PC games

Edit : Oh yeah and there was some game on the early macs that was pretty cool (the early ones with the mono screens) "Lode Runner" I think it was called? -- anyone know where to find a list of ancient apple games so I can try to find it?

Ok now I am scraping cob webs off -

What was that fighting game was karate style and you started in Sydney I think...and had to take 2 of 3 rounds to move on?

Thanks.

I saw someone mention Robin Hood from Sierra. That wouldn't be the same game as Conquest of Longbow by Sierra from the early 90's? That game was AWESOME. It was really fun. There were so many parts I loved, when you had to ambush those guys on the road, the time when you had to win the archery contest, and the whole sneaking into the monastary bit was cool too. An all around great game.

Sierra made a lot of great games back then, the Space Quest series was cool too. I really liked the one where you traveled back in time, and they switched it to 16 color graphics to emphasize the time travel.

All the old Lucasarts graphic adventures were great, especially the monkey island series, the two Indiana Jones games, Loom, etc. I used to play gameshow games like Wheel of Fotune and Concentration on my old monochrome 286 IBM, those were fun too.
