Hmmm... Some on this list are not obscure. More like "made before I was born" 😉

Mine are:

The Seven Samurai
Dark Star
Silent Running (Bruce Dern, not WWII sub movies)
My Name is Nobody
Strange Brew

Worlds Fastest Indian. A great movie with superb acting by Anthony Hopkins.
I recently saw Hard Candy which was quite interesting though it kind of made me feel sympathy for the child molestor.

Screw some of you movie snobs.

I think the age of the OP also matters. Earlier someone mentioned about not hearing about Glengarry Glen Ross, if you're only in your teens or early twenties it can be easy to have overlooked some gems from several years ago.

Here's my recommendation. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0279493/

I have a few. Most of these aren't exactly obscure, but I don't think that they're universally known or anything.

1) Amelie. I absolutely love this movie.
2) Les Miserables. The production with Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush and Claire Danes
3) Quills. Again with Geoffrey Rush.
4) Broken Flowers. With Bill Murray. Just saw this one recently.
5) Startup.com.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Not exactly obscure perhaps.
