What's your favorite memory of getting really dressed up and going out?

Wedding? Prom? Doing something special with your folks when you were young or they were old? Amazing date with your S.O? Misc?

Thread inspired by the fact that there is very rarely anything that we dress up for in our society anymore.

Pics welcome but not required.

My HS prom.. soooooooooooo much fun.

Also semi formal my sopho yr in college... it was on a cruise and we literally danced the night away.

Sad to say I haven't had such 'high' of a fun since.. maybe becasue you emotionally calm down after teens...(27 now)

Don't really have one. I hate dressing up and I didn't go to my prom in HS.

Edit: Also, never been to a wedding or any other formal event. *shrug*

Wedding...even though flew by so fast I hardly remember anything.

Next to that it would have to be a New Years ball the wife and I attended for 07->08.

Back in high school, I was in the orchestra and tried to go to the symphony whenever I could. One night we had tickets, so I put on a nice black suit and we drive to the Dallas Symphony who were playing at the Morten Myerson Symphony Hall. We get there and we're hanging out in the beautiful foyer, sipping some drinks we payed way too much for, when I suddenly need to go to the bathroom. I go, take care of my business, and then I'm strolling out, feeling like a million bucks in my suit... I'm walking around looking at the Dallas skyline, enjoying my drink and feeling like high society. A while later I'm walking back to meet up with my friends, and one of the ushers/Hall employees flags me down, puts her arm around me, and tells me that light gray underwear are highly visible if you wear a dark suit and leave your fly wide open. Yeah.

actually, i have 2 great memories.

the first one was with someone i had been dating for a few months. we were both part of a crew that helped decorate for a good friend's parents' wedding anniversary celebration, so we had already spent a good chunk of the day with each other. later that night, we made our relationship "official". 🙂

second memory was one of my best guy friends took me out to celebrate my birthday and we decided to dress up for it. 😀

Bravo!

Plenty of great times going out, but I've never dressed up in my life. Even on my wedding day I wore sneakers, shorts and a short sleeve Hawaiian shirt. Dressing up? Yuck. No thanks.

my sister's wedding.

the entire wedding party was blitzed before we even entered the church. after the ceremony, we had a private receptions and my cousin and I just sat around drinking vodka tonics and talking about how much we hate straight people (and discussing the permanent divide between gays and lesbians)
