What's Your Favorite Mech?

Vulture with 4 of those suicide modules and 4 medium lasers on ffa... run around plinking away at all the atlases until you see 2 or 3 that are grouped up and BOOM 3 kills 1 suicide : p used to piss people off so much in I think Mech 4, but I usually scored pretty well for the round.

I loooooooved the Marauder, before (iirc) FASA was sued and they had to remove it from all Mechwarrior games.

I'll also go with the Vulture. There's just something so menacing looking about it.

Of course, the Summoner and Thor are pretty intimidating too. Also the Atlas (when the art team doesn't fuck up and make it cartoonish). Also the Battlemaster. You know, screw it, they're all pretty kickass.

Does anyone else hate that the MW games have become so arcadey? To me, Mech3 was the BEST of the series. It was like a sim, with a great continuing story that made you feel like a frontline soldier trying to take objectives.

Strider... load that quick little sucker down with alot of countermeasures and 10 flamers. Run up behind an assault mech and *FHOOSW* instant ammo detonation.

The Catapult, which is my favorite Innersphere mech as well.

The Vulture (Mad Dog) is my favorite Clan mech (has the fittings I would use on it standard.)

The slow one that could hold a retarded amount of missile launchers. Fire all of those bad boys off at once and the enemy mech was toast. Granted, I usually didn't have enough ammo to complete the mission IIRC. 🙂

Sure sounds like a Catapult to me.

For old tech I'd prefer the archer as a missile boat. The utility value of the cat doesn't really become effective till you bring advanced tech into play.

No contest, Masakari 🙂 Here So badass 😀
And I remember fitting a Supernova in MW3 with lasers, as many as I could. Fired an alpha strike on the first enemy - blew myself up 😀 The supernova looked very cool though. So it's a distant second 🙂

MechWarrior 3 was such an awesome game. You really felt like in a sim, like you are in this huge mech. And the new reveal trailer reminds me very much of MW3 so I am full of hope 🙂 And a Vulture gets a close 3rd place from me, looks slick.

that was one right?

Ah yes...Daishi! I forgot about that! That's like my second favorite Mech! Loved him in MW3!

100 tons of awesome indeed!

Enforcer was my all around favorite. In some of the video games, my favorite to play was the Grasshopper. Once in close he cleaned the clocks of the Catapults.

OK, I had to reinstall MW4. Just remembered that one of my faves was the Shadowcat because its so damn useful. That left arm is a 3 slot omni-point. You can put all kinds of cool shit there.
Also my fave throughout much of the early game was the Uziel. Each arm is a 3 slot beam hardpoint, and twin 2 point ballistic sections in the chest, not to mention some missiles in the center. Overall, a real winner, especially if you prefer beam and gun over missiles, which I do.
Catapult was nicer than I remember. A trio of 2 point beam sections on its chests, in addition to the uber-missile packs. I have been giving it to one of my lance mates as a low-end sniper. Fill the beam points with Clan Large Lasers and then a buttload of LRM's.
For me: I use the Uziel but in an odd way. Instead of two PPC's (which are painfully slow) I filled the arms with Clan Med Pulse lasers and then a bunch of light AutoCannons in the chest. No missiles because of tonnange limits. Its super at close & medium and my mates can add fire support at long range.

As for Heavy, it has been and always will be the Nova. Just too much fun with an assload of large pulse lasers or several PPC's and some small lasers.

Assault: Daishi. Nothing comes close. The slight armor advantage of the Atlas is minor because its loadouts are always weak. Very few 3 point sections and they are mostly ballistic, which means you'll max out tonnage long before you fill all the slots. Wheras the Daishi is mostly Omni-slots, meaning you can put whatever you damn well please on it.

ok enough clan stuff 3025 universe only.

Catapult with a good support lance and marauder alone. I don't like going to a 3/5 speed but the awesome is a good clean them up mech. The hunchback is a good stomper in the 50 ton range.

Same here, just load the SuperNova with as many lasers as I can, go to the nearest group (if they're staying close together) of enemies and Alpha Strike. Hours of Fun. 🙂

No, the Mark 2 madcat is an Assault Class.

The medium mech with a canopy is the Catapult. It has a buttload of missiles and some Beam hardpoints.

For the Daishi/Dire Wolf lovers (coming from an Atlas fan), I understand the hardpoints arguement (MW4) but I always felt disadvantaged armour-wise in a Daishi compared to my Atlas.

Also on the Daishi, I was reasonably able to headshot the AI Daishi's back in the day due to its protruding head section.
